The thing with phasing is it seems like it's only solids and maybe liquids so air is fine. It also seems like you can pick what parts of you are phasing ate once (meaning you can keep your feet on the ground and not go down). The thing with flying is if you wear a mask then your face is free of bugs. The rest boils down to not being stupid (don't go too high and if you hear a plain coming don't hit it). With x-ray sight you already went over it. Even if it did use x Ray radiation means you're probably immune to it. With super hearing, it seems like you can control it, like a switch. Or you have a sound proof room for sleeping. With weather control it seems like you can speed up or slow down the process and that you can avoid the associated ripple effects.

Yeah but wouldn't the point of having the power to manipulate the weather be to even manipulate the way it's conjured? Yes naturally the weather takes a while to form, but with you manipulating it, you can expedite the process to your needs. For example, there's a ball attached to string just hanging around, naturally swinging in different directions. I have the ability to grab the ball, pull it back in one direction, and let it go so it swings in the direction I'm aiming at. Well since I already have the ability to change where the ball ends up swinging, I'm also able to alter how long it takes for the ball to swing in the direction I'm aiming at by grabbing the ball again, but this time actually pushing it in the desired direction so it reaches the destination at a faster rate than normal.

Ace of Games you wouldn’t be able to speed up how long it takes to let’s say make it rain or snow or increase the speed of the wind because everything that determines that comes from external sources for example you couldn’t make it rain any faster because the water vapour is coming from the ocean and you couldn’t speed that up

@jamesroad3166 жыл бұрын
yeah but again science is not that forgiving. you do know making rain takes a lot of energy and water. say you want to make it rain instantly. that is impossible because: 1. water vapor is needed and boiling water to vapor is a slowly and complicated process that you can not skip. 2. you need to condense the vapor afterwards which also is a slow process. 3. if you try to speed either of these, the result would either be the worst drought ever or you could start and ice age

The way phasing works in all the comics is you can choose what you phase through by matching the exact density needed to phase through a specific object. Flash phases by moves his molecules fast enough that it's like they are not there. Kitty pride phases by rearranging her molecules through solid objects. This means that they can both breathe while phasing. They can also control which molecules are phasing, therefore they aren't going to just keep phasing through the ground. And kitty pride can phase through gravity with enough control so she can sort of fly. This also explains why she can phase down, then back up again

The foot that’s left on the other side is still solid while one is phasing, and once the first foot is phased it turns solid, the force then comes to the solid foot so the one that’s left can phase. If you acquire such powers and it’s normal to you, the subconscious mind can easily adapt your body to cope up with things it requires. Say when you’re a child you learned to walk by moving your feet and legs but it’s your mind that developed equilibrioception which gives you a sense of balance.

Say there might be a way to make these Powers work. Bare with me these are just theories, and some of these theories would need a person to control their powers to a good degree not just winging it. Weather manipulation🌧: we've seen storm create miniature rain clouds and small cases of wind without affecting the actual weather itself. Obviously if one wants to use the power they should only just use it in a small but still powerful Supply. Enhanced hearing👂: simply use hearing aids but modify them to suppress sound. Is that way you can actually control just how much you can hear without getting overwhelmed by all the noise. X-ray vision👀: okay I can't find anything that could get rid of the disadvantages, so why not substitute it for infrared vision. You'll be able to see a person's body heat that will be silhouetted to see their movements. Sure it's less effective than x-ray vision but is less life threatening. Intangibility🚶♂️🕋🚶♂️: what if Kitty Pryde powers are based on awareness. That her brain makes parts of her body intangible while the rest is still tangible, and when she goes through a wall her brain is quickly making her body intangible at each individual piece make contact with the wall and then turning them tangible when she goes all the way through. Flight🦅: if a person has eyesight that can slow down how they see things around them they can avoid the birds and the Jets.
@zodiachowts50905 жыл бұрын
Others have touched on it and considering general physics you are right about most of the drawbacks. However both videos fail to consider these abilities when they are not on 24/7. Not only that you are not considering the powers within quantum physics. In some forms of shapeshifting utilizes the conversion of energy to matter. Also with shrinking while a normal human cannot process oxygen at a certain size, other creatures can because they have adapted to do so. Why can’t those who have this ability naturally also have the same adaptation? Weather manipulation could also be localized and isolated to keep from affecting other areas. In addition if the base component is the manipulation of air atoms, creating winds speeds and temperature change is a simple transfer of energy, water vapor is a simple combination of hydrogen and oxygen atoms, and lightning is transfer of energy to cause friction and line up a path. So while there are drawbacks, just so many.

Super hearing isn't too directly useful in a fight, but that's not the point. It's supposed to help you find enemies that are hiding and gather info on them. You don't have just a heartbeat to work with. There's also footsteps, and I don't know if you've noticed, but everyone basically has their own way of walking. If your hearing was sharp enough, you'd be able to track a particular person in a crowd especially with other clues(for example, nervously running in the opposite direction, limping if you hurt them during a fight they just had with you, the jiggling of an item you know is in their bag). It's true, most of the information you'll get is useless, but isn't that part of the deal with spying and stalking in general? Also, it's a hard counter to other powers like invisibility and blinding, and It combines well with powers(most characters don't have hearing by itself) like reflexes, perceptiveness, echolocation, and other sensory powers.

You act as if in both videos that super powers are on 24/7 when in reality some of them are not 24/7. X-ray vision is one of them. He only uses it when it is needed. Then phasing makes sense because it would be some form of Quantum Tunneling. I would have to study that subject a little more to find out more about it. It hasn't only been with the Flash, an other cartoon characters but also the older DC TV series The Adventures of Superman. There George Reeves (Superman) described the feeling as for a moment it was as if he didn't exist. Then he merged with the wall always with the conscious effort to move through. Flight is something different because you could decide to not go so high that you would need to be in protective suit in order to survive. Super hearing by conscious control is very useful. You can use it in surveying the area the villain is in. You would hear their plans before they would realize that they told you anything. Weather Control is something that I would have to study more to see what that is all about. You keep making videos will make me re-read that book on the physics of superheroes I mentioned earlier.

He uses Smallville as an example of just seeing the bones, shades and white, but the first time Clark used his X-ray vision he saw his friends muscular structure, and he can use it to see through walls, while still seeing regular skin as well, but I'd think most people would be born with these abilities, and have their whole lives to adapt to and control them, so these problems wouldn't really work, especially if you can control them to a high enough degree, and most of these powers wouldn't be continuously active

X-ray vision also doesn't make any sense because how does shooting X-rays out of your eyes help you see things? You'd only be able to see the tiny percentage of those rays that hit something dense like bones and just happen to bounce right back into your eyeballs. Anyone with real X-ray vision would be almost entirely blind, unless they happened to be walking near something that gives off lots of X-rays like a laboratory particle accelerator or a hospital x-ray scanner machine.

Actually, all of my senses are hypersensitive. I'm autistic, our senses work differently. Our senses are either hypersensitive or hyposensitive to various degrees and effects different senses. I have Sensory Processing Disorder. For me sound and light isn't just uncomfortable, it is physically painful. I find some issue with making a person have to "push" through the pain so they can go do what other people think they should do. That is really unfair and what I'd call mistreatment. It is still painful, regardless if you can learn to manage the pain. What is a normal level of conversation for the average person sounds like what you would call a loud rock concert; it really hurts. Sound is a wave of disruption through some medium, such as through air, or an atmosphere like ours, or water. Sounds is commonly referred to in two ways: how loud it is (decibels) and the size of the wave (frequency), which we also call pitch. There is a decible exaplme chart at www.industrialnoisecontrol.com/comparative-noise-examples.htm. On this chart there are two decibel ranges I’d like to refer to: 60 and 110. 60: “Half as loud as 70 dB. Fairly quiet. Conversation in restaurant, office, background music, Air conditioning unit at 100 feet.”. 110: “Average human pain threshold. 16 times as loud as 70 dB. Steel mill, auto horn at 1 meter. Turbo-fan aircraft at takeoff power at 200 ft (118 dB). Riveting machine (110 dB); live rock music (108 - 114 dB).” I wanted to point out these two examples because as I mentioned before, what sounds like a normal conversation to me sounds like a rock concert to you. I am able to say this with confidence because at 110 decibels is when sound starts to hurt the average person, for me it starts to hurt at 60 decibels on an average day; some days are worse than others. That would mean on average I hear sound at about 32 times as loud as the average person. Like I said some days are worse than others. When ever I started to need to stim, the more I have to stim to more sensitive my sensory processing becomes. There have been times that at 40 decibels (“One-eighth as loud as 70 dB. Library, bird calls (44 dB); lowest limit of urban ambient sound”) sounds was too loud and started to hurt. During those times in which sound at 40 decibels starts to hurt me; that would make my hearing at around 64 times as loud as the average person. When ever I am in an area I can hear every little thing around me at once; this, ironically, makes it hard to hear what an individual is saying. There are so many sounds coming at me I can’t decipher where what is coming from sometimes, and when someone is trying to talk to me I can’t hear them over everything else going on around me. It is hard enough to carry on a conversation already, then with all the noise around me it can make it practically impossible. Light, oh boy. As a kid being outside, period, all I could see was white light. It wasn't till I was in my later years in high school I didn't need to wear sunglasses inside, though I still prefer to. Unless I'm in an isolated area in the middle of night (and I mean around 10pm-3pm, or else there is too much sunlight) I prefer to always be wearing my sunglasses. When ever I start getting close to a melt down any light is just like looking at bright white beams in my eyes. I have a black bandana I wear over my eyes like a blind fold and put my sunglasses over it and close my eyes. Even at night time that usually isn’t enough and the light still bothers me. Something people confuse is how light works. Photons are particles of light. In the day time there are more photons from the sun to light up the sky, which is why it is brighter during the day time. During the night time there are less photons so it is darker, but when photons are there they are still really bright. At night time it is like looking at a very contrasting picture. Where there is light there is alot, where this is not there simply isn't any light to be seen. Flashlights, or objects that illuminate in a similar fashion (like a phone, laser, or light bulb) have focused light, or in other words photons are focused in a specific area. During the day time, when directly at me, yes that is very bothersome and does does hurt, but because of the contrast at night it really hurts even more. It's like having a migraine in your eyes. As far as taste, I can't have bitter things in my mouth. They make me want to throw up. I happen to also have ASD, when ever I have to stim, outside what textured object I'm feeling, things, especially people, rubbing up against me or touching me is really uncomfortable and distressing. Tags on my clothes feel like knives on my skin and heat is a lot hotter for me. I wouldn't call these problems. In certain circumstances they make things difficult, but in others they help. I look at the sky and see where the atmosphere ends, I can see the physical curve of the earth in the sky. I can see light from stars no one else can. I can see every color of the night sky and how they all blend together. I can see details no else will ever see. I use my hearing subconsciously to help me know I'm breathing, I can hear everything around me so I use my ears to guide more than my eyes, using my ears I can "see and feel" everything around me. I can hear air move, and if I focus hard enough and hear my partner communicate in code using her nostrils to push out air so only I can hear her. I can see amazing things you can only imagine, hear everything and everyone, feel everything, and it is the best thing in the world. I live in a society not adapted for me. If it were back in hunter gather times living in woods I would of thrived so much better as opposed to all this sensory information around me all the time every day, and having to fit into a drame work where people sleep during the night and wake during the day when I am the opposite as sunlight and all the sensory overload is very taxing and tiring.

01:32- Unless you can control which parts of your body phase at any time. Like make your feet solid but the rest of your body phased. To get through walls you would have to phase your foot and part of your leg, solidify it on the other side of the wall and then phase the rest of your body. This would make /running/ through walls nearly impossible but walking should work. 02:12- phasing, in theory, works by increasing the space between the molecules of the body, but the molecules are still there. Separating them wouldn't make gravity stop working on them.

I don't think *Weather Control* would suck as bad as you think. It generally doesn't last long and doesn't affect large areas. Since the effect is totally artificial, it doesn't have many lasting effects and such changes can happen very quickly. I doubt it would affect weather on the other side of the globe. It might cause temporary effects such as having rain in one area taking moisture away from an area downwind, but that's probably not enough to cause a drought. *Weather Control Machines* on the other hand are entirely another kettle of fish. They can not only have long term effects, but many cover huge areas. Many are made by villains for nefarious purposes, or they just don't give a darn about long term side effects. Hmm... *5 Super Gadgets that would Suck in Real Life* Two powers that would suck in real life would include: *Time Travel*: The mere act of moving through time can alter the past, such as releasing a virus that's under control now and making a new Black Plague in the past. *Resurrection*: If the power doesn't treat the cause of death, many times the person will just die again either quickly (in the case of deadly wounds) or slowly (in the case of deadly diseases or untreated cancers). Of course, it won't fix old age, so the target would just be living on borrowed time.

On phasing, it might be more useful if it wasn't perfect. You could pass through objects, but it takes effort (force) as the object still offers some resistance. That would enable running on ground while phased, not falling through the earth, being able to breathe while phased, etc. I know Kitty Pride was shown to be able to walk on air while phased, but I'm not sure if that ability was always there or if she honed her ability to be able to do it.

My Hero Academia did phasing in the most realistic way I’ve ever seen. Lemillion (the character who could phase through solid matter) couldn’t breathe when he was using his power because air molecules would pass through his lungs. He was blind for the same reason. As for accidentally phasing into the ground, he explained that due to physics, matter can’t overlap, so when he tries to become solid while phasing into something he just shoots out of it at high speeds.
