Thank you for this tuto. You are such a good instructor. As a beginner I find that it is the best one I've watched so far. I managed to mix the colors smoothly without cauliflowers in the sand😊. I love that you give so much details as you paint along. The relatively slow pace is also very important for me as I started watercolors only 5 months ago. So please please keep posting more of this kind if videos 🙏

Thanks so much, Joe, for sharing your wisdom. I do love your comment: wax, you can't iron it off. It's just what I would have tried. I learnt so much from you, giving painting so much pleisure when learning these techniques.

Hi Joe, been muckin around with masking fluid a little bit today, have tried it before and used to use my finger to rub it off but after watching your video tried using a "gum eraser" and also cleaning the brush with detergent and water, worked a treat, fantastic tip Joe think I will be using masking fluid a lot more now in my paintings

Hi Grant, glad it was of help to you. I used to get a sore finger rubbing off masking fluid till I found out about crepe erasers. :-)

Thanks again Joe for a very informative video, I have a bit of trouble preserving the white of the paper as I need to practice "negative" painting more, but after seeing this lesson candle wax will be worth a try for sure, thank you once again Joe

Glad it was helpful! Just remember the candle wax candle wax cannot be removed. The first three techniques are preferable so make sure you also practice them Grant.

I love your videos. You explain things better than any other instructor I've had. Thank you! I'm an experienced beginner. One thing I struggle with is signing my art. I have trouble writing with my brush, especially loopy letters like a, b, e, o, etc. My name is Kathy and I can't get past the 'a'. Any tips?
@JoeCartwright2 жыл бұрын
Glad you find my videos helpful! I break the 'a' down into a 'c' with a vertical line on the side. Use a small fine tipped brush and rest the side of your hand on your dry paper to give you better control. I hope that helps.

I am using Art Spectrum masking fluid. It didn't work well on Art Spectrum watercolour paper each time leaving some damage when I tried to lift it regardless whether I used my finger or crepe eraser. But once I moved to Arches watercolour paper all issues were resolved.
