Oh my god. I’ve seen pictures of the “horse in the moonlight pen” and thought “what’s so special?” But god in the video it’s really breathtaking. My jaw dropped when you picked it up. I can only imagine in person it’s a true piece of art. I can now see where the price point comes from with these pens. Thank you for the video!

wow! its a whole new world for me. i had no idea!! unfrotunately, this goes beyond what i could afford but certainly admire and respect the artistry and creativity of each pen design. I'll admire the pens from afar. maybe one day i'll have the opporutnity to hold and try one.

Thanks so much, Daisy! That was very interesting and instructive! They are all beautiful, but I have my eye on that Sailor Hiroshima Factory Pro Gear as a grail pen! 😍

What a coincidence! I was recently looking up what "bespoke" fountain pens were xD

Might have missed the info, but do the Rei series have KoP nibs?
@Yoseka4 күн бұрын
You didn't miss anything! Sorry, we didn't have time to go into detail about all the pens shown in this video, but the Rei pens are limited due to their unique Urushi lacquer finishes. The nibs on these pens are just the 21k nibs on pro gears and 1911ls. They do not come with KOP nibs, thus the slightly (!!!) lower price tag when compared with some of the other pens that come with both Urushi art finishes and KOP/Naginata nibs.

In Japan, SAILOR Bespoke ended at the end of September 2024.

To make things a little more confusing, there are two "Sailor Bespokes". One is the North American term that refers to these highly limited pens that we talked about in this video. But a year or two ago, Sailor Japan started a service called Sailor Bespoke that was a pen customization service where customers could choose what colors different parts of their pens could be and combine them in bespoke combinations. This service has ended, but the North American Sailor Bespoke continues! Hope this helps :)

Thanks for your kind helps. Didn't know there were two kinds of Saikor Bispokes.

@@Yoseka What's interesting is that the Japanese use of the term is what the word actually means. Meanwhile, actual English speakers are using it to mean... very limited? Which isn't what "bespoke" means at all!

The Wabi Sabi series is made of ebony, rather than ebonite? The description on your website says ebonite. Is it both?
@Yoseka4 күн бұрын
Ah good catch, so sorry! After some double checking, it looks like the material of these is Ebonite and the Ebony was just a funky Google Translate thing from Japanese to English! Thank you for checking with us :)

Me seeing the row of pens and their prices under this video like 😵😵😵 Like I totally get why, but goddamn haha the craftsmanship of these people be worth one month of rent 😂 But then I see that some of them are already sold out, to which I’m like 💀💀

In the UK, we would call these pens 'Limited Editions'.
@lyfandeth5 күн бұрын
In the US we follow the British tradition of "bespoke tailoring." It is NOT proper to call it "bespoke" unless the pen has been tailored to the user. The thickness of the barrel, the shape and texture of the finger grip, the overall length and balance of the pen, must all literally matched to the customer's personal fit and desire. That would include their choice of nib. Simply having a rare finish or other cosmetics that were "pret a porter" ready to buy off the shelf in limited qualities, does not make it bespoke. A truly bespoken pen might be a very nice high-end offering.

It seems obvious that Sailor is using the more contemporary definition of bespoke, being hand made and limited in production.
@mixeddrinks81004 күн бұрын
bespoke needs to be more custom is another way of looking at it imo. You pick an example of size, color, finish, nib, etc and they put it together for you. but i agree this is limited not bespoke.
