Yes, Germans take off their shoes when they enter the house. Some have inside slippers, many just use wear socks inside. For the garden, you'd have outside slippers (like crocs, or sandals).

The lettering "20*C+M+B+24" is part of the Catholic Church's carol singing tradition and can be found in regions with a high Catholic-Christian population. However, this tradition and the lettering has inspired at least one other religion in German-speaking regions. For example, the German Pastafarians use the lettering "20*F+S+M*24" for their "Eilige Drei Köche" ("three hurriing chefs") tradition, which they celebrate on 6th of January each year. The names of the honoured three chefs are: Fusilli, Spaghetti and Macaroni. The three letters are derived from the first letters of the three names, but also refer to the god of the Pastafari, the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM). 😉

In the Netherlands you can have an ID card, a passport and a driver's license at the same time and use them all as proof of identity. If you have to travel a lot for work, you can also get a business passport. The funny thing is that the driver's license is issued by the CBR central bureau of driving skills and the CBR is not owned by the government, but it does work according to government guidelines but is financially independent. But other countries see the driver's license as government valid. non-EU countries want to see an international driver's license and you can buy one from the ANWB general Dutch cycling association, which is also not from the government.
