sweet bike! thanks for sharing your thoughts. here are some other points to note... in time, the aftermarket should offer better seat foam. Honda only went with Pirelli tires to save weight. they were able to declare that the 2022 model was 8 lbs lighter and the same as the Euro bikes. going back to Dunlops adds a few pounds but is a must. the soft walled Pirelli's require 2psi more air or you may pinch a tube). carbon fiber guards for the pipe and tank have been recommended elsewhere. Eli Tomac was ready to leave Yamaha last year if their new 450 got a hydraulic clutch, because he loves cable. cable gives better feel off the gate. cable allows the rider to see how much they are abusing the clutch, which also tells you how fast the oil is being contaminated. cable allows the lever to engage closer to the grip for better control and its easy to adjust on the fly. these motors are not like the old XR or TTR; the oil needs to be changed all the time. like every 5 hours. if your not doing that and running full synthetic, then don't buy a new bike in the first place. the bike will not burn enough oil in that time to need to add oil, so there is no need for a dipstick. having a dipstick encourages checking the oil while the bike is dirty, which guarantees a bit of contaminants will get in the engine. when we change the oil and add new oil we normally have the bike cleaned off. the OEM's were smart to get rid of the dipsticks. things that are an issue with this model include that the fork comes with horrible valving that desperately needs to be modified. pay for a re-valve so the front end settles in and tracks properly in the corners. drop the forks in the triple clamps to improve stability and go with softer springs if you are under 190 lbs. make sure the shock sag is at 105 to 106 mm. tighten the steering head inner nut to get slight drag at the bars, which acts as a cheap steering damper (but grease the bearings first!). buy a longer o-ring chain when stock wears out, so you can run the new chain with the rear axle all the way back near the stops. this makes the bike longer and helps both cornering and hi-speed handling. if you can afford it, get the flexi aftermarket engine mount kit which will help the front end hold traction and reduce unwanted feedback in stutter bumps. have fun guys!

Not a honda fan boy but sounds like you could benefit from the moto academy alott of your issues would be fixed by just being in a proper riding position. But the stock tires are trash the tank is aluminum and its actually pretty durable but if you plan on woods riding get the plastic cover for it. The seat does break in quite nice after about 5 hours definitely needs a gripper seat cover though. And if you haven’t yet set the sag on the bike for your weight because its a night and day difference

1st it's not all new. It's the 2022 down to the graphics 2nd thing your gonna hate the forks 3rd is its flame out far easier in tight trails 4th your gonna round the heads of the bolts on the body work as they are to shallow to get a good bite. 5th that muffler is as thing as an aluminum can and it will have a dent in it very soon from your boot. New tires adds 3-4 pounds back to this bike. I went from that to my 2023 ktm 300 but 1 thing I can tell you is you'll get a lot more time of riding vs wrenching on the honda and they look awesome as well.

I have the same bike and when I want to start it I have to pull the choke hold the starter for 3 seconds then let go and wait 2 seconds then press starter again and it starts in 1-2 seconds but it starts instantly when it's warmed up. I see guys that just hit the starter with choke off an it starts right up. Don't wiry about wearing out your rear tire you're not going that fast or riding that hard to wear down the tire. Bud if you want to get better in jumping and riding with speed and not complain so much and just be happy and greatful to ride, ride when the kids on 65's are on the track. They are animals.
