As an H2 owner it boils down to it should of came with an intercooler from the factory, hard to sell a 36k bike then put another 4000$ intercooler on it. But on the flip side of thay if your spending 36k on a bike then you shouldn't be bothered. When people talk to me about getting an H2 I tell them to add another 10k ontop of the price for the intercooler and the exhaust and the tune. I try to push people into used ones, you save so much money. Alot of your complaints can be solved with money. Alot of other bikes can't solve there gremlins with anything.

When you are pinning it and the supercharger is spinning at high speed the boost pressure is much higher and the temperature will increase - that is perfectly normal and would be expected. . . .ever checked the end of a bicycle pump after you have pumped up a tire. An intercooler will certainly help reduce the air temperature going into the cylinders and will increase the power output (lower temperature - higher air density. 200-250 degrees (F) is absolutely not a problem for metal engine parts (I'm a mechanical engineer) - the engine oil temperature is what matters and provided the oil flow through these parts is high enough the oil temperature will stay within an acceptable operating range . . . . note there are a lot of oils out there used in heat transfer applications that can handle 500F or higher.
@c0c0asauce3 ай бұрын
The main problem with high intake air temperatures is fuel related pre-ignition. If you check out the live data on a scan tool while driving most cars you will see the IATs are tied to hard limits on ignition timing advance. Naturally aspirated engines on pump gas (87-93 octane) typically run 25-35° of ignition advance at peak torque. Forced induction engines running pump gas typically run 12-18° of ignition timing advance at peak torque to avoid pre-ignition issues. Pump E85 (108 octane) can push closer to 20°-25° advance with forced induction. People like to keep their secrets about methanol tuning but I believe people will often run 45° or more of ignition advance and IATs are almost irrelevant due to the cooling effect of methanol fuel.

Thank you, as another ME I'm glad someone mentioned the fact that 250F will do nothing to your forced air induction setup. Definitely will suck power though.

Also an alcohol injection system which virtually works like nitrous system but your only injecting alcohol which also has a cooling effect naturally. The system can be programed to work only when your building boost. Nitrous requires you to keep the bottle pressure consistent and will run out much quicker with use. Either way your adding alot of complexity and stand alone systems but just another option only necessary for super serious riders. As if the power of a stick h2 isn't already insane.
@irocss853 ай бұрын
I'll add 2 that nitrous is a power adder and alcohol is more like a power enabler because you can keep the charge air cold as well as make sure you have enough fuel delivery at WOT.

I’ve had a couple of supercharged cars and an inter cooler would actually do 2 things for your bike. It would lower your air intake temperature as you mentioned making life much easier on your motor and due to the lower air intake temperature you would have more power because your bike could run more timing. If you figured how to get a Snow Performance water/Methanol injection system installed you could either do that with an inter cooler or instead of the IC. The W/M system will really drop your temps down.

@Snakes7093 ай бұрын
Intercooler is a must on these bikes. I have a H2 SX/SE and the wife has a ZH2. I track both of them and before adding the yagerworx intercooler to my bike, boost temps got 100*c (212*f) on a fairly cool day. The higher it got, the more the ecu was cutting timing. Got the intercooler and it doesnt matter the ambient temp, my boost temps stay cool. As for the service interval. Your dealership is partially full of shit. There is an extra service but all it is, is attaching a magnetic arm to the frame with a dial gauge to check the supercharger axial play. Literally grabbing the impeller blades out and in to see how much play there is. If its within spec, which it should be, its fine, no service needed. If its out of spec, the supercharger needs to be torn down and bearings/gears replaced. The axial play isnt $1500, so not sure where the dealership got that number from. There is one more supercharger related service and its easy but alot of work to get to and that is the supercharger oil screen. The fuel tank, air plenum, throttle body, right side throttle body holder, coolant hose and crank case cover have to be removed just to get to a small plug with a small little filter screen on. My SX had red loctite gummed up in it since Kawasaki loves using red loctite on every fucking bolt.

Interesting review. Why did you buy a hyper naked and then complain? You bought a fire breather. And Kawi makes bikes at reasonable prices for what you get. I’ve ridden a couple of these. I think it’s the best way to enjoy a liter bike because of the supercharge. Super manageable around town and crazy fast on a straight. So I have to ask. What did you buy it for? Cause your honest review doesn’t tell the whole story. Or maybe you. Just haven’t ridden long enough to get the beauty of the bike. Compared to the other hypers this bike is the best deal. Although I just rode a MV 1000R and that bike is just way too loud. And I like loud bikes. H2 is the best deal going. And not the fastest. But what you can make happen there is crazy for the money.
