When I listened to what you said it reminded me of being wholesome in our ways, thoughts, feelings, and actions. We all have to develop how to remove the weeds of unwholesome ways, thoughts, feelings, and actions. They bring wreak havoc, negativity, pessimism, criticism, limiting beliefs, doubt, fear, exploitation, violence or abuse into one’s and other lives. It is like a great gardener who knows weeds grow uninvited, they thrive even without care and no matter what time of the year they will grow. Such is the nature of unwholesome ways, thoughts, feelings, and actions. Like a gardener, we learn to remove these weeds. With kindness and care, we water and nurture the wholesome ways, thoughts, feelings, and actions. Knowing when our mind is either a friend or a foe is an ongoing journey. Thus, discovering and steering it towards being our greatest friend. In this manner, making our mindful to kindle courage, clarity, conviction and compassion in any situation thus being an artful driver. Love the way you use stories from your life to convey the message. When you spoke about your parents I had tears in my eyes.
