Been playing for like a week now and it actually shocks me that theres only one craftable for making water. Like if we could use a bucket made from lets say a coconut and then go to a campfire and make a structure where we can then boil that water so it is no longer salty. And a way to make some fresh water storage would be sick as well.

Boiling water kills microbes & germs but it can't remove salt IRL You'll need a distillation mechanism which is hard to make and very slow process

Sounds like you're in a tough spot. Can you get a raft together? If not, it might be worth going back to a previous save or starting again. I suspect your raft drifted away. Pull it on the beach.

I’ve been trying to swim to other islands to get more rocks but I only manage to find a few rocks and I nearly die everytime I swim out, I think I’m better off just starting from the beginning haha

Lee Feather your starting raft also comes with an anchor that you can deploy so it won’t drift away. I recommend starting over bc I’ve had to go to other islands just to find more rocks as well.

1. Shelter- YES 2. Water Still- DEFINITELY 3. Smoker? -no need. A campfire with a fire spit will do just fine. Smoker is really not needed, especially later because you don't need 5 pieces of meat, it will just spoil. Smoker is good for only small pieces of meat, and if you can catch a sardine, you can catch an archer. And archer gives medium meat. Cook 2 pieces at a time and you're full :) 3. Small hut with roof?- NO, definitely not. There is absolutely no need for that. Huts are a luxury, not a necessity. 4. Start your raft- YES, that's a smart decision I know that thw Loom is not a popular choice but it will give you a HUGE advantage. I can make my own video showing you guys how to get on your feet strong in the first 5 days. After that, it's all just relaxed and smooth pleasure-playing :D Trust me. Seriously

Water Still and Smoker on every island, I agreee - makes it way more relaxing. The shelter you only need that time when you do not have a mobile bed with you.

@@HGDan the sun burns hot between 10 am and 3 pm, if the sun protection factor is low, dive into water or search for shadow. You can eat a pure aloe plant to fill up the spf if neccessary. a sunburn is not that dangerous. you just need more water to drink.

When placing your shelter, AIM it at your home island for future clarity. You could literally continue this outward from your home island, and know how to get home from several islands away, if each shelter points to an island closer to home in every case.

I totally agree with this video but you don't need to build a save point or fire on every island if you know how to prepare. A sleeping bag and smoked food, clay flasks in a container is all you need, 6 smoked food, 6 clay flasks and the sleeping bag can go anywhere, even on your raft. The sleeping bag gives the option to save on the ocean. The best island to make into a base, the island you spawn on. However, basics and strip the nearest island of natural resources to follow this video. Leave your spawned island alone only to create a base. Use the rescue raft to strip the closest island but return everyday by 3pm. The hut in the video, start it in your desired spot on your base island and turn into a spectacular working environment. Trust me, this works. Use the video to help but you only need 1 smoker n shelter for now. Later, build a sleeping bag and you create a kitchen in your base.

I use shelters as a marker to know where my main island is. I build a water still and fire at each island so I can stay and collect all the resources.

Building one on every island is ok if your beginner but later try building a sleeping bag it does everything a shelter does but is also transportable only problem is that it’s a bit expensive

You need lashings for damn near everything in this game. Still got the starter raft and it's soooooo slow. Everytime I try and travel between islands, I always encounter a shark and die

Yeah you do. It's why I like to try prioritise the raft building. It's easier to get about.

Yeah the first island has like 2 or 3 yucca plants. Then after using them up. Takes like 2 days or so for them to grow back. Best to go island to island searching for yucca. I got stuck doing that yesterday. But like HG Dan said the rubber raft is kinda slow. Then if it gets flipped over at sea its a pain to flip back upright. Also sharks like to attack at night. Also the water catcher doesn't fill up fast either. I think the first island doesn't even give you rain at all. Also best to skip the big rock islands with pine trees cause they only had one yucca plant for me. I did find like 3 tarps though there but was at full max carrying. So couldn't get them either. Also last game I found out about the coconut juice. It does make you thirsty. I was ticked off then eventually got lower on healthy daily.

@@TotesBruh I was already poisoned from a snake first. Then the trip back on the boat I got bit a few times when knocked off the raft. I had to reflip it. Sharked flipped me a couple times then bit me again then eventually got close to home then died.

I just got the game. I landed on the smallest island I have ever seen in this game. Only had 5 coconuts on it and just enough sticks to beat the tutorial. I wanted to take the yellow raft over to another island but the shark kept tipping me over. What do I do to stop him from doing that so I can get to another island?

Wow, it sounds like you were given a raw deal here. What is in the wrecks around your island? They might give you enough to build some raft stuff? Or maybe some spears to use to fend the shark off will moving? Failing that, change the seed of the map in your options. Generate a new one. It's a great game. It would be a shame to lose out on some bad luck.

Water still is not really needed except to fill Clay Pots. Grab three coconuts and put them in a pile. Grab two then drink them. When you place them back in the pile they automatically become full again. Just wait ten in game minutes before drinking more so you don't get sick 😎

Yeah that's right. It's a pain! If you make the spit it will allow 1 more, but I'd save the materials for the Smoker. That will let you have 5 pieces.

Which for some players it's unplayable because when using the raft and swimming back and forth to islands the game crashes so you cannot do nothing apart being stuck on one island... hope they fix that otherwise no point in keeping the game lol

Put your shelter and fire at the inner part of the island. Take your killed animals, don't skin it, to the camp site. Eat during the heat of the day to stay in the shade. Use your compass and put your water still on the North side of each island for a marker.

Haha fought a shark yet? I only had a shit load of fishing Spears and this tiger shark kept attacking me so I made it my personal goal to kill it. Long story short I killed it after a good 10 minute battle. Let's just say it started as a shark and came out looking like a porcupine 😂
