I've been enjoying your videos! I'm a fellow Pine Barrens rider. My ride is a Kawasaki KLX 250l. It's wonderful to be back on the trails since the 70's when my last ride was a '76 H-D SX250 dual sport. Being back out there 45-years later is like being in "Heaven on earth" for this 60-something. I met a fellow trail rider in Bass River State Forest with a new 300 Rally and thought it might have been you, but his name was Anthony. He loves his bike and has had many of the same bikes that you have owned, (why I thought it was you). Keep up the enjoyable videos!

I guess I didn't realize the aftermarket was that big, I don't do FarceBook. I'm 70, and have been riding for 55 years, all Honda and BMW. Another good point about this bike... I drive a 2500HD pickup, 10mpg on good days. I can hop on the Honda and run to town for small things, and put 2 gallons of gas a month in it (for that). It does a true 75mpg on road, 7X better than my truck. I'm even looking at small "hacks". LOL I may even buy 2 bikes! 8) JMHO --gary

Great summary of the bike. Tyres are king when it comes to confidence on and off road. Agree stock tyres are spot on for compacted ground and road use but need changed if you plan to attack any mud or sand. Not had to replace my indicators yet but have seen a lot of issues where people have dropped the bike (even from standing) and have broken the plastics where they mount. So rear indicators are on order for me because the bike will go on its side at some point!

Before I watch this i will say the rear suspension was designed for 60kg riders and plain sucks while the front forks feel a lot better in comparison. Had a CRF250L as a light duty bike while also riding my XR650L, These two bikes were lightyears apart in design with the older 650 just being so much of a better bike in terms of suspension. Don't the manufacturers learn from experience? - or is it a generational gap where knowledge of what works disappears. I had the 250L for a few months and it was a pretty decent commuter but the moment you threw some dirt at it the rear shock would just say no ways. Sold it years ago. Still have my XR650L (657cc) - 133kg tank empty after weight redux and happy for it. From what I gathered the 300L series still has a wimpy pogo stick rear shock to this day. Edit: watched your vid now and you are pretty spot on the money. Guess a sorted 300L wont be a bad bike to own. I'll stick with my 650L for now - it has fully adjustable suspension front and rear ex factory and hauls my 220 pounds kitted around the dirt from mild to wild.

Valid 5 points of course. But I would mention this too: All export models are restricted. The original engine produces 31 HP and in Thailand where these bikes are made the bikes comes with 31 HP, but export models are restricted to 27 HP. Change the ECU or get the ECU reflashed and the bike will run as it should….

@KurtGAndersen2 жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyBoy919 Thai bikes have a sticker that says use at least 91 octane RON. Thus thai bikes run on 91 or 95 octane RON called «gasohol» in Thailand which means its 10 % ethanol added. 91 octane RON equvivalents approx 86 octane AKI (US measurement) and 95 RON equvivalents approx 90 octane AKI (US measurement) There is no difference in performance between 91 and 95 in Thailand in my experience at least but I get a bit better gas milage with 95.

Thanks for real world reviews. A huge majority of these bikes will be primarily on pavement and a few dirt roads.. a small minority will ride the type of trails you were showing. I weary of reviews wherein bikes like these are cut down because they perform poorly in extreme situations. There are few riders, relatively, who can utilize Even this machine at its maximum ability. Go ahead, enjoy it, change the tires and wheels, add some racks or bags or whatever and pretend you are in the desert some where. That is as close as most of us will ever come anyway.

But I enjoyed the high seating position, the wide handle bar, the light weight and the overall grin factor - I just smiled in my helmet riding this bike! Even after owning a XR650L and a DR650SE this little bike didn't leave me wanting for more power. Had it for three years 30000 km, no repairs besides a fork seal starting to leak a few km after the warranty expired. Too bad they don't make a CRF300M! Guess I'll get the L and put 80/20 tires on them because I don't do much real dirt. The M is stiffer, never had any problems with the suspension, but then again I'm not riding like a maniac. :)

Good analogy of the tire pressure. I have a 2021 Klx230 and in the process of turning it in due to being a Lemon well at least the dash. The speedometer stopped working shortly after purchasing it last July. The technician replaced the dash and then it stopped working again and he replaced the sensor. Well last Saturday it stopped working again but it has stopped before. Other than that I like the bike except it's a lot worse on the road and the suspension is not that great either. I've owned more than a few kawasaki and Yamaha and one Suzuki. I've never owned a Honda. I would not consider the Klx300 as my current bike has deterred me from trusting the dash. I'm watching a lot of videos and getting first hand knowledge.

I enjoyed the one comment about the bike being suitable for a 65 year old! God willing, I will be turning 60 in August 2023, so the comment encourages me. I did not grow up with motorcycles like my brother Bobbie, but I have inexplicably developed an urge to buy an off-road motorcycle. Bobbie advised me to look at the Honda CRF300L. Now I have developed an itch that will not go away. The more videos I watch, the more I like it. I hasten to add that I have no urge to ramp and jump the bike, but merely drive it off-road to enjoy the fresh air. Given my age and inexperience, it would be the wise thing to do. Thank you very much for a great video.

I thought I bought my last dirt bike when I was in my 30’s but at age 56, I still wasn’t done yet. After a year of chemo I thought if I’m gonna do something I’d better do it now and I got a CRF300L. I was weaker than I thought and I fell over a few times and could barely pick the bike up myself. But I just hit 3000 miles and I’m feeling much stronger now that I’ve been getting some fresh air and exercise riding the backroads and dirt trails locally. I like cleaning and wrenching on my bike at home and I go for rides after dark when the town shuts down. I don’t rely on it for transportation and I don’t like riding in traffic. I like riding in the town I grew up in and I keep the memories alive by doing so. My family has deep roots in Honda motorcycles. (Owned Maruko Cyclery of Fresno for 3 generations) And It was our family tradition to ride motorcycles every thanksgiving at the family ranch in Gilroy. Everyone is gone now. When I’m riding I feel closer to them. And on Memorial Day I’ll ride to the cemetary and pay my respect. And pull a fat wheelie down the street when I leave, just for them. I might even have to upgrade to a 450 before I’m done. “Ride Red!”

At 7000 euro i don t think this is a cheap bike to trade off suspension. Even if we consider it cheap, you can always look at the klx wich is in the same price range and has better suspension.

Nice vid 👍 I'm a woman, well under 100kg, looking to get started with a dual sport. So 300L sounds like a dream. Anyone know where one can buy the plastics at 2:55? I love the black look. Also, I'd want a nice bigger fuel tank for some long range exploring & longer rides out of the city for motocamping.

@@iosoi3145 I may considered opinion ( for what it's worth), after over 40 years of riding, Honda has made an outstanding bike in the L and the rally ( especially the rally). To be light and agile in the dirt AND completely stable and pleasant at ( legal) highway speeds , all while using almost no fuel, is a truely great achievement from a manufacturer than has been bland for years. This bike, and the brother bike the 2022 model CB500X, are a truely great pair of mtotorcycles. The 300's have very high seat heights ( somewhat lowerable) and the 500 has a high seat ( even more lowerable), which is something to consider if you are vertically challenged.
@iosoi31452 жыл бұрын
@@gregjetnikoff7124 Thanks for your reply. I was looking at the CB500X too, especially if I was doing long road rides to get to my destination. I'm 5ft6, but being female I have shorter torso and longer legs/inseam than my 5ft6 brothers out there. I haven't been able to sit on the L, Rally, or CB500x let alone test them because the stores are all out of stock. Only available for order. So I'd be buying on blind faith. Although I did sit on a 2020 Kawasaki KLX230 and just my heels were off the ground. The L or Rally loaded up with gear should be pretty good. Happy riding!

Agree in all fronts, the tyres expecially, they are fine for road and gravel roads (not at recommended pressure tho) anything more "serious" than that and they struggle. First thing i'll do when i get the money is change tyres
@MotorcyclesOffroad2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was the first thing I did as well. Just keep in mind that there is not many tires in that size. So for something like a D606 of AC10 you are actually de-gearing the bike. So you will also want to do a sprocket/chain upgrade.

there's no such thing as negative skills. gaining a skill will never make you a worse rider. that's ridiculous. in this example, it may not be useful for when you do actually get good tires, but those skills are still valuable for some circumstances. if the rider is brand new, then i can understand it seeming like it makes them a worse rider because they have nothing else to compare it to and then they assume that's normal and are unprepared for when they're in a better situation. but that's just part of learning. everything you learn will help you in the end, even if it seems useless at the time.
@MotorcyclesOffroad2 жыл бұрын
Man I was a fighter for 15years I can tell you first hand and by my own objective, there is definitely negative skills. You can trian your body how to move wrong, lift wrong incorporating the wrong muscle groups , etc. Sometimes it can take years to fix these issues. Tons of sport related injuries in knees and shoulders can be avoided by proper movements and body techniques. Riding the bike is no different, it is a sport with ease of entry where tons of people do things out of their skill level. Without proper techniques you will ingrain bad habits into your body that you will naturally do wrong. Having lack of confidence with slippy tires that are not acceptable to your terrain will build bad habits in riding. Most people don't even position themselves properly on the motorcycle.
