First things first. As soon as you get to your peg, you maybe get your box set up, get all your gear out, but before you start preparing all your rigs, your terminal tackle, your rods and reels, make sure you get your groundbait mixed, and there's a good reason for that. Regardless of whether you're mixing it for a method feeder or a conventional open ended feeder, you're gonna need time for the mix to absorb all the water to get the perfect consistency. So let's get it mixed up, first and foremost. So, depending on how much groundbait you're planning to mix up, you could need a robust 18 liter bucket such as this, or a small, shallow bowl. What is important, whatever you use, it has to be round. The reason for that is if you use a square bowl, for instance, a lot of the dry ingredients can actually get stuck into the corners and can't distribute the water evenly, and that's gonna make your mix inconsistent.

Really great tips, but why go to all that effort if like at the end of the video you are just going to dump it in the margin? I get being this consistent with a method feeder or balling in little and often during a match, personally if I'm just using it to bait the margin then I wouldn't go through all the hassle with the drill and riddling etc.

Drill and whisk and a bloody sieve, the world has gone mad. Forgot the sieve and drill, if you mix by hand, you can feel what the mix is like, so there won’t be any lumps in it.

A £300 drill seems a lot to most people but if you are using it a lot and mixing large quantities regularly then it’s probably worth it in the long run and considering his pole is probably worth £3000 plus and the rest of his gear is worth thousands more then 300 quid suddenly doesn’t seem that big of a deal . For the average guy who fishes though , a cheaper one will do or you could just mix and riddle the old fashioned way like I do
