5 Things You Should Know Before Moving to LA

I have been living in LA for 37 years (all of my years living in the USA) and I love it! Traffic doesn’t bother me because it is what it is! I know the best times to go places during the day so I don’t encounter crazy traffic, but if I do it doesn’t matter. A little gloomy day is not bad at all… we have those days… I love to go on hikes and spend time in nature (most real Angelenos do). Keep in mind there are many people living here who are NOT from LA. This is a good place to live here where there is a lot of diversity. Culver City is large area. I live on the West side and I love it! It is never too hot or cold. I work in Culver City so it it about 3 miles from home (it takes me about 6/9 minutes).

Get out of the city. Born and raised here. I go to Ventura and Malibu WAY more than LA beaches. In general it's less people. Also, nature is more than the beach. We also have mountains and lakes. Consider Big Bear and Arrowhead. LA County is massive.

Moved away from LA, 24 years ago. Funny how your complaints are so nonsensical. Things don't get shut down in LA because of snowstorms, driving on black ice, or unplowed roads. The flip side. LA's doesn't have 2 1/2 - 3 months. With temperatures over 100°. Or upwards of 118°. For spans of 10 - 15 days. Like Phoenix or Las Vegas. Where heat could cause major problems on your vehicle. LA has it's own self perpetuated road problems. A freeway gets closed down due to construction. The county needs to stop and hear the news about carmaegden. People sit in freeway traffic only to complain. When in reality, LA has better plan B's than other cities.

I personally love the gloomy weather here in SoCal but here in the San Fernando Valley we get less overcast weather. And I wish it did rain more :( Ps. Yes we do tend to not go to the beach very often despite being less than 15 miles away from the ocean.

Haha yeah nobody goes to the beach lol very rarely out here. And yes gloomy weather would be nicer especially more rain. Valley gets warm during the winter on many days too like 80 degrees sometimes

That 20 minutes was a joke, even then. More like 40! There are lots of people here who enjoy nature and hiking and who go every weekend! We don't go to the beach because of the traffic and cost of parking. If I go, I drive up the coast, where I can park! I've lived here 50 of my 56 years, but never in the coastal cities. It still trips me out to drive from my place in Mid-City, when it is sunny, to total fog cover at my friend's in Marina del Rey!

I literally just left LA last night. It rained Thursday through Saturday. I was shocked. But I new it was supposed to. But I live in GEORGIA. Where it is just beautiful everyday, everywhere you go. But I LOVE LA CALIFORNIA. I stayed I Santa Monica this time. Love the to visit 💯

Love your videos and you're still pretty new for being out here so that's why you still get out and see everything like you do. If you happen to continue living here for 15 or 20 years, then you kinda begin to not go to the beach as often as you used to. I still love living near the beach and having places to hike available, if I wanted to do that. But it's been years since I've done any of it. lol I don't know what it is, but also just wanted to add that I LOVE when it's overcast like it was in your video! Just know that when its overcast like that here, in the valley, it could be clear skies and high temps. I think locals love when its overcast like that because there's less people out at the beach. Oh, and just to add...that wasn't rain...its more of a drizzle caused by the fog/being overcast like it was. Not actual raindrops so yeah, keep praying for all of us for rain, please. It hardly ever rains here and I really miss those thunderstorms we'd get back east!

It's beautiful here. I live in the suburbs of LA (Conejo Valley) and it's affordable and super safe and not as hot as LA. Winters 70 degrees sunny and summers like 86 degrees

@@l.klooth9477 The first 6 years of my life were spent in Newbury Park! Love it out there and Camarillo and Ventura too! BUT if you work in L.A., the commutes can be hours. That's why we moved to L.A., my dad couldn't take the long commute any longer.

The Bay is better. You dont have to deal with these retarded transplants that move to LA for youtube, IG, influencing, modeling/acting/all-around worthless professions. WAY more fake/superficial/narcissistic people in LA (unless you can meet some chill natives). Also the Bay has less population, more nature, more green with more options for adventures (bigsur, monterey, lake tahoe, yosemite, anywhere in the sierra nevadas, santa cruz, hills/mountains everywhere.

What city do you live in that has cheap rent? And what’s considered cheap rent in California? The roommates you live with. Are they your friends who traveled with you from New York to live In California? Or are these roommates people you met in California? If I ever decide to move to California I would like to know what parts of California have cheaper rent because I think I will need roommates just like you! Rent is outrageous!

all of california is extremely expensive, i’d say any given city is neck and neck with rent. you would need more or less 6 figures to live comfortably there but you can find roommates online and split the cost!

Leo Carrillo is great too. Honestly, when I really want a nice beach trip, I go to Butterfly Beach in Santa Barbara, which has free parking and is one of the prettiest beaches in CA. Ironically, where I live, it takes me the same amount of time to get to SB as it does to Malibu. 🤷‍♀️
