@@justinterry2926 Anyone who watched even three Notre Dame games knew that Clausen was a fraud. It's not like he was outright terrible, but he made too many mistakes for a first round QB, and he rubbed plenty of people the wrong way on and off campus. Every team's scouts were aware and concerned to at least some extent about the leadership and locker room issues his ego might cause. I don't blame anyone who didn't watch the Charlie Weiss era Irish, because they certainly didn't live up to their potential (much to my delight as someone who had to deal with ND fans on a daily basis). But even just box score scouting, you had to take 2009 as gospel and ignore the previous two years to buy in on him at all.

Yeah but Kiper has been breaking down draft picks for damn near 40 years. Of course Kiper is going to have some glaring misses on prospects in a game where the best GMs and scouts get it wrong significantly more often than they get it right. If you guys really want to be objective than you should also point out the number of times that Kiper has gotten it right, which he has done. Mel Kiper actually has a fairly good track record on player assessments Long before the age of algorithms and analytics were made available to the dirty work for every nickel and dime draft geek. Also, any way that one wants to slice it, Mel Kiper was instrumental in popularizing the NFL Draft into what it has become to casual fans. Before the early 2000s casual fans didn't pay any mind to the NFL draft process. Hard-core football fans were the only ones tuning in on ESPN 2. Now the draft/combine/Senior Bowl week are must watch TV with the draft itself dominating the ratings for every round 1-7 on mainstream networks. Kiper was instrumental in getting every Tom, Dick and Harry office geek to tune in on every April 25th and was only able do so because Kiper did manage to get it right over 30+ years alot more than his critics care to mention or give him credit for.

I think Caleb Williams is going to be a bust. Too many red flags that the media hype machine going into overdrive has caused to be completely ignored or falsely reported. Somehow he's now said to react well to being pressured? WTF, no he's bad under pressure. He's also going to have to learn how to run a structured, pro style offense from scratch. He's never done 3 or 7 step drop backs, never done timing passes or RPO's (like what %90 of NFL passes are). All he's ever done is shotgun formation + scrambling hero ball.
@thatonewriter8043
@thatonewriter8043 Ай бұрын
He's not going to be a bust, per se, but I think the expectations are higher than almost anyone can reach. We get a hype train going every few years about the best guy in a draft class, and he *usually* is, but every QB has weaknesses, and those weaknesses always seem to get ignored if a guy makes enough impressive plays. He has Rome. He has Moore. He's the current Bears administration's pick (unlike Fields). They're going to make it work the best they can. He's just going to make mistakes, and the same with Luck and Lawrence, he's going to be picked apart for every single way he fails to be a Madden Create-a-Player.

@hailmaryrecordings8255 Ай бұрын
Bears-fan here, and I hope you’re wrong; but agree that the hype is ridiculous and there are several red-flags that make me nervous about how he’ll deal with the Chicago media and fans. We’re rough, we’re desperate, we’re crybabies, and most of us really don’t know a lot about football. The heat will be on too. He’d better ball-out fast, or he’s going to be reviled by a lot of fans. I’m hoping for the best, but not *expecting* this guy to be Peyton Manning.

Eeeeeeee 😬 plz don’t erase these comments. Make sure you all stand on what you said. It’s going to be very interesting to see if you all are going to be right or made to look very silly. We don’t have to wait for that “environment” bs tho. That’s already some silly sh*t. It has already been said by pretty much everyone that knows anything about football that Caleb is coming into the best situation of any 1st overall QB draft pick ever. What would be a better environment than having 2 of the top 8 WR’s in the entire league, plus a WR that lead the entire ncaa in receiving yards and contested catches, plus top 7 TE, plus 2 very good RB’s, plus an upgraded OLine, plus an OC that made Gino Smith a pro bowl QB, and plus a defense that finished the 2nd half of the season as the #1 scoring defense while also leading the entire league in interceptions. Lmao in order to “not think the Bears are a good environment”, you’d have to be missing a 🧠 or just one hellava hater.

I'm a Redskins fan so I was screaming please don't take Daniel's or Williams. Imo they might turn out to be decent QBs but neither will win a SB. If anyone breaks this streak imo it will be Joe B, but he does play for the Bengals so........ I also predict Pennix to be the most successful out of this draft, well him or Drake May! Ice been wrong before but this isn't me and my feelings it's facts as far as the Heisman QB = SB wins! I'm right more often than Mel but so are most people lol.
