Just a note, the tipping percentage varies across the country. Urgent care centers in my area (rural south) charge more than double that. Here a visit to urgent care costs $120 minimum, just for them to walk in the exam room and back out. So consider a visit for $50 a good deal!

Most decent employers pay your health insurance & then it only costs about $25 to go to the doctor. There are also bill sharing companies - all medical bills are split between those who've joined. It's a lot cheaper than buying insurance on your own. Millions of Americans also get free healthcare (Medicaid or Medicare) from the government

Hi Annita! Super useful video, thank you! I'm British and am considering moving to the US for work for a few years so I'm doing my research on what I should know, what it's like to live in the US, etc. When you say you have to cosign with somebody to get an apartment, does that mean you absolutely HAVE TO have a roommate ? I'm like you (prefer to live alone), so glad you pointed out the renting situation! Is it not possible at all to rent a one bedroom apartment on your own if you've not lived in the US before? Thank you :)

I’m loving this video as my daughters and I will be moving over there from Shitney and continuing our successful business in LA. I have a question about the rentals. What if we pay like a year in advance... do we have a chance then?

I remember when I moved to the US in 2016, my SSN was so stressful. I didn't get the card until over a month after landing, seeing as I was on a cultural exchange program housing was fine and understood. But after 30 days my bank was like "We're going to close your account" my phone was about to be disconnected because I couldn't top up. My boss was like "Where the hell is your card" Had to run to the Social Security office and beg them to see where the hell it was, they had no idea and they had to hand write my SSN down because they did not know where the card was. After that happened, turns out they weren't supposed to do that. But in the end I found out they sent it to the wrong office at my job seeing as they had two offices so my boss had it the entire time without realising and only when I begged HR to check absolutely anywhere on location they found it in the wrong office.

ok, 300 dollers for a hair cut is a new one on me. i pay 20 dollars and a 2 dollar tip at wallmart. you must be rich to afford all that in such a short time. believe it or not my view is you got off pretty easy. i was born here and every thing was a lot harder for me to do. every one in the world says the usa is rich (and it is) but for your average person you work very hard to just get by. if you get sick or pregnant, or loose a job you can be on the street. you give good info - thanks for sharing.

That is why I love the DMV in suburban New York. It is a nice building and you get a number like waiting at a bakery. The system moves quickly. Probably the same outside of LA. Big cities DMV’s are a nightmare.

What kind of bakery you go???? Do u or did u ever step inside asian .mexican bakeries????????
@MrGlenspace5 жыл бұрын
Yes I have been to other bakeries. All I am saying is the setup with number is similar to a bakery. In fact it is numbers with letters so you have specific lines with certain issues.

Hi! I was really lucky to have been working at a company that had both AUS and US offices so I was able to transfer across. At the time, I didn't want it and wanted to start fresh, but let me tell you, I'm so glad I stayed and did that - it made the moving process so much easier as there was some sort of constant in between such a big life change. If you have the oppotunity, I'd highly suggest you try to find a job or leads ahead of your move!

Baher Eisa in the USA there is no registering in cities or states. If you are an immigrant and you move you have to let Immigration know your new address; once you are a citizen you don’t fall under immigration laws so you don’t have to do this anymore.
