One of the most frustrating situations in a tennis match is when your opponents throws a lob way too short so that it bounces in the service box and yet you find a way to mess up the smash and end up losing the point.
Receiving a short lob that bounces off the ground is one of the most advantageous situations in a tennis match from which you should have a very high percentage of winning.
In today's video article you'll learn 5 tips that will help you develop killer efficiency from such a position.
These 5 tips will include the most common mistakes players do and how to correct them.
You'll learn how to position correctly, what is the correct preparation for a smash, what is the best contact point when hitting a smash on the bounce and how to shorten your serve technique for good power and control.

Excellent tip for pointing out the difference between the smashing after the bounce and the serve. Very useful and make sense. Cannot wait to put it in practice. I can relate this tip for the serve, smash, and after-a-bounce smash. Thanks.

Perfect instruction. I'm always framing the smash with the top of my racquet by reaching up to it. I can't wait to get the next lob.

Very good video, I was looking exactly for this kind of video , smatch after bounce because it's taking you far from the net! And a lot of my smatches are going to the net... The grip you use is continental right? I've noted your position is on the side , is it important or the pronation is doing the job even if your body is positioned face on the net ?
@feeltennis
@feeltennis 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Continental grip. At contact you should "face" the ball, not the net. So always orient towards the ball with body, pronation (forearm) then eventually moves at an angle towards target.

Nice video - moving too far back and then towards the ball is also good because you gonna have the forward momentum when hitting

I watched this video last week and tried it today, against an opponent who often lobs. The success was amazing! I had one difficulty - the sun was often in my eyes and I couldn't see the ball well. Preparing for the shot at a slightly different angle relative to the ball and the sun seemed to help. Do you have other tips for playing in the sun (other than sunglasses, which I find uncomfortable)?

Not really, but you can try to use your left hand as a tiny umbrella to block the Sun.

Tomas what will be the changes for overhead smash no bounce?
@feeltennis

No changes. ;) You may just have to play more often off the back foot if the lob is good.

Great tips. The next question is how to do it when it bounces deeper? - because back fences are much closer than the pro courts we see on TV you can't just let it drop so the smash would still be useful. Also when do you let it bounce - you could have just smashed the ball with no bounce in most of your examples instead?
@feeltennis
@feeltennis 2 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't let it bounce if you read that the lob is going deeper. I would let it bounce only if I can judge that the ball will drop in the service box. And I wouldn't not take most of the lobs in this video in the air because the ball is coming down at very high speed and it's difficult to hit the sweet spot and angle the racket right. If you let it bounce the ball basically hangs in the air and it's much easier to hit clean with power.
