I love these tips! My youngest is 15 years old and has nonverbal autism. His name is Asa, and i did a double take when you mentioned Asa from Fathering Autism. 😂 We have taken 3500+ mile road trips out west the last 3 years (2020, 2021 and 2022). We are taking this year off…I think! We travel in our minivan and realized how important toilets are for a kid barely toilet trained. After our first trip I build a simple toilet for the van and we use it all the time now! Public restrooms are difficult for him. We also bring most of our food. It saved money and is a comfort too. I look forward to more videos from your family!

I agree all of them I'm planning to go to USA someday to attend college, but first I need to finish my GED(probably SAT too), I have one more subject(which is Science) left, then I can revise all of the subject and I can take the GED test, I wish I can go to some US states like Utah, North Carolina, Maine, Wyoming and so on

With just two fairly chill kids, a sedan, two drivers switching off every hour, and experience taking long road trips pretty much every year (or multiple times a year), the most that my parents were generally willing to do in a day was 500-ish miles. A couple times we pressed longer, but 1000 is extreme, even with far less to manage. Even when me and my brother were old enough to drive and willing to press far into the night, they were reluctant to extend travel days too far.

I'm petrified of planes so take my trips by car. I try to visit family/friends every summer on the east coast and live in the midwest (average 19 hr drive). I drive strigt through only napping at rest areas if need. For me its definitely about the destination not the journey. I keep snacks and cases of tea in front passenger area. I'll often stop when I first leave at subway and get a couple subway sandwiches so I can eat that as/if needed. I have noise canceling headphones and have podcasts on phone to listen to for the entire trip along with custom mix CDs if I want to change things up. This system prob wouldn't work for most people but it works for me.

@@7Aheadfamily Oh, another thing that helps is not setting times for anything. I turn off my morning alarms and get up naturally whatever time that is. I also leave when packed and ready to go rather than a set time. I usually wind up leaving mid-late afternoon which works out to miss all the major cities at rush hour. I stop for gas and rest areas as needed and do most of the driving overnight which really helps (I'm a night owl naturally anyways). With this I usually arrive at my destination late morning or early afternoon depending on exactly how the timings/stops work out (also there a timezone change) Doing this means I'm not stressed or tired and have no expectations to be ruined so cant get upset that way. I also try to go during the week rather then a weekend day so I'm less likely to run into many long distance travelers near cities helping the drive be quick.

@@7Aheadfamily Something I just realized, one way, my trip from Nebraska to central VA or northeast PA is about 1200 miles meaning I drive farther at the start and end of my trip. You however still have me beat overall as I have only done this for the last 5ish years. 😜

@@7Aheadfamily if there's anything to help another autistic kid I feel like I should. I hope one day they're doing well and happy with someone special. Friends and more. It might look different but I hope for the best dreams you have will happen for all your kids. I know the older ones will be better people even now to their classmates with compassion they have with their siblings.

Where do your kiddos with autism sleep in the RV? I have a 4 year old son similar to your Ezra. We have a camper and he usually sleeps with us but he might like his own place to sleep.

We have a couple beds that are like tents that they like. You can Thor bed in this video here. Items not for everyone, I don’t know if your son would like this or not, especially if he’s used to co-sleeping, but ours like them.
