Great video Billie👍 My own additions would be.... Tip #6 Always ensure any sharp edge has at least a small radius added for a better render. Tip #7 Use Wood (Solid) appearances for the full 3D wood experience (& a huge range of edit options).

@@BillieRuben Hi Billie, I am a shoe designer and Professor at the Parsons School of Design and FIT in New York. Can you suggest how to import into Fusion360 materials and textures to build a library. The materials in the Fusion Library aren't suitable for footwear. Can I import my file into another program for rendering? I would appreciate your thoughts on this subject.

I'm not sure if you can import more textures im sorry! In terms of rendering, Blender is free and there are lots of tutorials online! but there are others like Autodesk Maya and such too. Dang you sounds like a very cool human! I love mixing fashion and printing. I used to be a theatrical costume maker, back in the day. :) Do you have twitter?

@@BillieRuben Hi Billie, Thanks for your reply! I don't have twitter but always open to a zoom meeting with colleagues. I just downloaded blender as per your suggestion. Seems a bit complicated. LOL I will give it a whirl and see if I can grasp it. Can photoshop render 3 D models? I will check autodesk Maya too. Thanks so much for your suggestions please stay in touch. If I can help you in any way with shoe design please reach out. Thanks again!

Blender is a bit of a beast, I won't argue there. There's a KZbinr called Blender Guru who's pretty good for tutorials though! Rendering is a whole thing tbh. I lot of work goes into making a good render. People have whole careers built around it. I don't know about Photoshop sorry! I've been using CS2 since it came out. 🤣 I'd love to chat sometime!I just started a new job, so my next few weeks are going to be crazy. But sometime in the future I would really love that!

So rendering changes apearance of whatever u are creating innfusing 360 correct. But how would that help when printing in my ender -3 s1 pro if iam using white filiment? So should i try to master tinker cad to teach it to my hs students or should i teach them fusion 360 instead?

Hey Billie,good stuff here. I must now learn fusion 360! Question: Do the applied textures get baked in to the model for export or are they just for screen purposes (to show an end result should you post-process the print that way). Eg; Does a shiny textured model print smoother surfaces?
@BillieRuben
@BillieRuben 3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't get baked, it's just for visuals. 😊
@TheAndyroo770

@@BillieRuben Is it possible to bake it in? Can you import seamless patterns and get it to seamlessly texture the whole print? I'm currently using photoshop's pattern tool to seamlessly pattern a document sized to the plane I wish it to match, export as jpg, then use an online tool to convert to SVG, then import to tinkercad (if it is not too large/complex) then I nudge it into my surface and punch it out as a hole. Works well but only on flat surfaces. Would be cool if there's software to take a seamless pattern and map it to all surfaces.

You'd be better off doing something like that in blender or Maya or similar, I think. Bump map / height map might be a good Google search term to get you going. 😊

If you only want to do it for flat surfaces though you can go direct from a jpg to a model using 3D builder (free on the windows store) then cut it out of your model in there.
