Thank u Elisa. 1. My favorite tip that I have heard over & over & over is 2 set a timer for 10 minutes - 30 minutes. That way u don't feel overwhelmed . 2. I reward myself with crafting after I have spent sometime organizing, cleaning, etc my craft room. That gives me something 2 look 4ward 2 doing. Have a great, blessed day.

One tip I've heard is to put likes with likes. I don't necessarily do that myself, at least with everything. For instance, I have stamp sets in my craft room in a few different places, mostly because I have too many to store easily all in one location. But I've left them in those places for so long that I know where to go to find a particular set. And the ARE all in my craft room, out in the open so I don't forget about them. :) I also keep inventories of certain supplies. I have a few databases in Airtable for stamps, dies, stencils, & digital images I own. I keep lists in OneNote of what colors of alcohol inks, Distress inks, Distress Oxide inks (& their reinkers), & Nuvo drops I have. Those OneNote lists are especially important, so if I am in Michael's or a scrapbook store (or shopping online even), I can quickly look up on my computer or phone (OneNote syncs among my devices) if I have a certain ink/Nuvo color already, so I don't purchase a duplicate. That may not be an organizing tip per se, but it does keep me from bringing in unnecessary purchases, so I don't have to find a place to keep them then :) Anyway, thank you for these tips, Elisa. I plan to share the tip about starting in one location & cleaning that first with my mom. She's currently cleaning/decluttering her room, & I think is a bit overwhelmed by the process right now. Hopefully that will help her. Take care, & have a fantastic day! :)

I needed this video so much! I have put up with a "crowded" workspace for months and so need to follow these suggestions! Thank you! I have been de-stashing for a while now. I found a friend at church who is an avid - and talented - card maker (which I a neither) and have been passing on to her tons of paper and kits that I had been holding on to for several years. Now when I get a new kit or come across something in my stash that I know practically I won't use I pass it on to her along with permission to pass it on to someone else if she can't use it. It's been wonderful! And she is using some of it in her work in various groups and charities! I have tons more to go through, but now when something new comes in - I have a "subscription" that doesn't end until the end of the year (and I haven't renewed it!!!) so I can't stop that flow, but I can certainly not buy anything else!

Hi Elisa! I really like when you put these videos up. Especially since I will be giving my art/craft room a tidy and clean this weekend. I store items by season (scrapbook paper, planner stickers, washi, embellishments and painting projects). When I get ready to turn over a season, I go through my papers, stickers, etc and destash the current season. Then I put that season away, and pull out the next. It really helps!

I love that idea of sorting and destashing by season.

I personally struggle with getting rid of things. There are some things I have gotten rid of previously that I deeply regret getting rid of. I also go through phases of doing different crafts. So, I am not able to get rid of stuff just because I haven't used it in a while. I have had to re-buy materials and tools I have tossed thinking I don't need it anymore. I do understand the idea of getting rid of stuff so people aren't overwhelmed. However, I never feel overwhelmed. I do like the idea of cleaning one section or area of the craft space. That does allow for you to feel a sense of progress. Great tips!!
@ScrappyWife3 ай бұрын
It might be a good idea to pack up things that you are not currently using (for a hobby that is not interesting you at the moment), and then just label that box and move it out. Simplifies your space without getting rid of things you think you will need again one day.

Your video popped up in my suggestions and I'm so glad it did! My favorite organization tip is to keep the things I use frequently close at hand. I'm a card maker so my adhesives and cleaning tools are within reach because I use them every time I craft. I also "zone" supplies so like items (ink pads, ink cubes, cardstock, patterned paper, stamps, dies, pastes and gels) are all stored in the same places.

My favorite craft room organizer is my pegboard. I used your board as inspiration. The way my space is organized I have 2 pegboards. My husband made them for me. They are easily accessible from either of my work surfaces. Thank you for the inspiration. I love having the bulk of my supplies out where I can see them and easily access them. My next goal is to find an ephemera storage system that works for me.

Great tips! Here's something I've learned from Karen Brown of Just Get It Done Quilts on KZbin for getting your sewing space organized: USE A TIMER! Re-organizing your space can be a daunting task, and you can literally just stand there for a long time staring at your stuff and NOT getting anything done. Set your timer for 10 or 15 minutes and get started. When the time is up, if you are getting "in the groove," keep going. If you're still standing there and staring, stop for the day. This can be applied to ANY area in your home you are trying to work through: closets, basements, garages, etc. It works because there really is such a thing as "Decision Fatigue." Thanks for another great video, Elisa! You always give us outstanding tips for getting organized! 🥰

Everything needs to have a home or else I just pile it up. I have a box for "homeless" items and as im going thru things, if I dont have a dedicated place for it, it goes in the homeless box. Also new items that I need to put away go in the homeless box. I also have a box for stuff that belongs in another room. Both of these methods keep me from getting distracted when I'm organizing. My last tip is to allow 10 or so min at the end of a craft session to cleanup. I dont want to start my next session with a mess.

I had the same idea to unmount my red rubber stamps from their wood blocks. It took awhile, ok a long while but I listened to a show or music in the background and got into a groove. It was so worth it! Not only are the stamps easier to use with a stamp platform, but they only take up about 20% of the space they used to so it went a long way in also helping me to declutter and organize.
@ginalombardi25073 ай бұрын
@@dbathabasca Indeed, I have huge trash bags of them, starting from around 1991. It will indeed take a while, and then of course to sort them into categories!!!
@dbathabasca3 ай бұрын
You know I became really inspired by the stamps I already had as I unmounted them. I got so many ideas! I hope you do too. After going through the stamps, as well as my papers and embellishments I have finally lost the urge to go and buy new items. I was able to declutter and that was important bc I had felt overwhelmed before. It was amazing getting my room organized and better functioning for my own process. But the best outcome for me was getting the inspiration from what I had already. It has been close to a year and I haven't even felt the urge to buy more.

@@dbathabascahow did you remove them from the blocks?
@kadderkatch-vl3hh3 ай бұрын
I’ve just been declutering, reorganizing and getting rid of on my craft room. I have cleaned by zones. That helped. Then had a box for things that belonged elsewhere. Also, trash and things to donate. Many wooden blocked stamps I’m not using so took pictures and offered to crafting friends first then I’ll put them on Facebook marketplace place. I have a few bins of odds and ends to go through but it feels so much better to have things organized. I’m ok when just crafting for myself. But when I’ve been making kits and putting things together to take to a craft group or have a large project, that’s when things get out of control. As you said, it’s much easier if you can keep on top of it. One thing I will implement is to turn my stamp sets around when I use them, so I know what’s being used and after some time, I can sell the others. Thanks.
