Hello, I don't know if this is only my keys but this Yamaha keys seems to be too long and not enough "rigid" and bend a little a couple of times so I decided to go this way with this dedicated original key for the ignition and a copy for other stuff on the FJR.

Excellent advice about the keys, I have had the problem of my other keys getting hung up on something in that area when I turn, but I never thought of your solution.

That was the color of the 2004 FJRs in North America. It was called Cerulean Silver, which is more of a bluish dark silver. It was the second year of the bike in North America (3rd year globally)

I had the same extensions and in the descrition of the risers and in the EU License there is mentioned, the bars in this case are just 27mm rised and there is no need to change the cables too. In fact, there is enough space in all cables to move in every direction. 1 am 1,80 and now i feel way more comfortable on longer tours in the new position. I also got just a short strip of paracord on my key of the bike, separately from the other keys. And i recommend strongly a good quadlock for the phone The next is a good tankpad to protect the tank before scratches of your Zipper on your gear and last but not least i had 2 crashpads they protect the side panels if your motorcycle accidentally tips over

First tip: Replace the OEM keys. The OEM keys are pretty soft and easily bent. Some key suppliers can cut to code which will give you an "original" copy, not just a copy. Then test that key in *every* lock on the bike. Tire pressure: Many of us (including me) think that the book recommendation is too low. We recommend something around 40 PSI front and 42 PSI rear. I do not know the metric equivalent.
@FJRDavid
@FJRDavid 2 жыл бұрын
I guess I will stick with my tips regarding the key:) Here in Australia it would cost me $175 to have a coded key for my FJR, instead (and because I have all the original keys for the bike) I spent $9 to get a copy of my key which allow me to do anything else but start the engin, which mean I can keep my original (ignition key) exclusively to start the bike and use the $9 key for anything else (opening the lockable space under the saddle, opening the pannier, removing the topcase etc).Also as mentioned in my tips I use my ignition key alone and I have this cheap extra key on my keyring with others keys (like D lock key , disk block etc).Thanks for sharing and have fun on the road.David

Good tips. Thank you. I do the same with the ignition key. On tyre pressure I use the FOBO 2 tire pressure monitor system. You can run this app in the background on your phone and it works very well. I also have a separate Chinese TPMS on my other bike. Problem with that is that you have to charge the monitor from time to time and it is not as reliable as the FOBO system. The Chinese stuff is cheaper yet I recommend the FOBO solution.

Hi Jack, thanks for your message.This is not an attachment but a wireless power tool, this one is from Aldi and if you research in my channel "Aldi" you will find few videos done about Aldi's tools (maybe not in English but can be translated by KZbin as you know).So this toll use the same battery for my drills, electric pump, grinder,gardening tools etc ...I hope this can help you and if not already done please subscribe:)

If we talking about the same tool (I'm not 100% if this is the one you talking about, this is a red power tool correct?) this is a pump which inflat your tires.

@@jackwebb5917 Yes I guess I bought this one 2 years ago in Australia, it is possible to get some even smaller because this one works with my others accessories and use this big battery but some this days are rechargeable on USB and much smaller (but I don't know if this is as efficient, I use this one very often because I also refurbish bicycle and this is handy you can preset on it the pressure you want and also work with all the different standard as PSI,Bar..)

My personal tip. Change oil and filter frequently, coolant and hydrolic fluid Do periodic maintance, throttle body sync , spark plugs , air filter. In regards to brake pads remove them once a season a rub them off. Alcohol is good but try to stay away from rubbers as it deteriorate tgis material

The US oil change interval of 4000 miles is already "frequent". There is actually a way of testing the coolant to see if you need to change it. Otherwise, every three or four years is plenty. Changing the hydraulic fluid (brake and clutch) every year is better than the book recommendation of every two years. Check throttle body sync when you notice an increase in vibration. 8000 mile interval for spark plug change is laughable.

Is this bike manageable in heavy traffic situations with it's 600+ lb wet weight?
@FJRDavid
@FJRDavid 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, this is a very easy bike to ride even in the traffic.Previously I own a BMW K1100 LT a little lighter in weight but the FJR got a lower centre of gravity and as you can see in the link below if some rider can do this with an FJR, the problem will never be the bike but more the rider training.As you maybe know many different police forces use the FJR around the world.The counter steering knowledge is crucial I think to get full confidence. Thanks for watching and remember to subscribe:) Below the link prouve the possibility of this motorbike. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYOsgYl9hdiFn7c

Yes, although the weight isn't so much the problem as the heavy, pre-2016 clutch. A few years back when they were working on the local interstate highway, I got caught in 5PM, rush hour traffic. I spent over an hour covering the last 10 miles.

Good tips, but cleaning your brakes is nonsense…
@FJRDavid
@FJRDavid 2 жыл бұрын
Good morning rider (or good afternoon,good night:) it's indeed make a lot of sense to remove as much as possible and almost as often as possible the dust generated by the brake pads of your motorbike, this dust after time limit the normal movement of the piston in your brake calliper and creating a kind of friction between the brake piston and the calliper, resulting in a poor brake quality or eventually some leak in your brake system.I would even suggest to also remove the brake calliper maybe one time a year to cleanup calliper and piston with clear water or with soapy water to avoid having brake dust on the piston.This way you will extend the life of many parts including your disk brakes.This is only some suggestion by the way, do some research yourself and after do what seems to be the best for you.Have some good time on your motorbike.David
