Mixing Guide: 1. Fix every sound with eq if needed. But I recommend having great sounds so you dont waste your time. 2. Add effects to your sounds if the beat needs it. 3. EQ the low end of every sound until it still sound great. But don't eq your kick & 808 only if you want more or less punch. For this kind of thing I recommend using a transient shaper plugin like Transient Master by NI or the default fl plugin not an EQ. 4. Gainstaging: For trap music, Kick & Clap (or snare) should be the loudest element because thats moves the head. Put the kick at - 6, Put the snare around -5,5 and the 808 a little bit under it. The rest always depends on the beat and the style. 5. Sidechain: I recommend sidechaining everything for the kick a tiny bit. This way when the chorus comes you will have much more impact. Do everything like EdTalenti said about sidechaining. Plus thing: check out how long your kick is in ms, and set the release the exact same amount. 6: Your mix is done. Mastering: Have an eq plugin which has an output gain knob. I recommend Fabfilter Pro-Q 2. Do a cut at 20hz. And make your mix clip a little bit with the output knob. 7: The secret thing: Put on the master after the eq a clipper plugin. (FL Studio users: Fruity Soft Clipper) This makes your beat sound much harder and louder at the same time without distortion. Hope this helped you, and feel free to correct me in the comments. Maybe your advice helps somebody.

To me the snare at -5,5 db sounds too loud, I usually put it at around -15 because it is mainly made of mid-high frequencies

-6 peak or RMS? Also, you cut at 20Hz on the master? And what's a clipper? Compressor? Saturator? I'm asking cause I use Ableton and I don't think I got a clipper. Thanks
@g.k.keyser79755 жыл бұрын
@@trapnest_music -6 peak in the mix, this way your output on the master will be around - 6 as well which is perfect for rappers to sing when they buy the trackouts from you. On the master lowcut at 20hz with an eq, and increase the output gain within the eq until your master level is above 0 peak. Then after the eq put a clipper plugin. (like T-racks soft clipper or maybe there is some free ones, search on KZbin or Google)
@g.k.keyser79755 жыл бұрын
@@trapnest_music Clipper is a clipper its like a limiter without compression, basicly it takes your clipping mix and limit it in a nice and smooth way so you dont get any distortion only if you make crazy things.

Quick recommendation: use linear phase eq when you're dealing with low end. regular eq moves the phase which can be really critical when dealing with low end.
