Great video! I want to start a vlog and can't decide which camera I should buy... Sony alpha 5100 or Panasonic lx15 / lx10. Which one would you choose? Greetings from Germany

Great video. Thanks for sharing these tips with us. What would you recommend for someone who is just starting out? Would you rather advice to buy 2 or 3 prime lenses like Sonys 16-35mm, 55mm, 85mm or to buy a zoom lens like tamron 28-75mm for video and pictures? Thanks a lot.
@BrianAiken6 жыл бұрын
Hey Pav, Boy that's a hard one... It really depends what you use them on and how much you have to spend right now. I pretty much only use my 16-35 but for what I do I really could use the extra wide angle for all the indoor stuff I do and for vlogging. But if you going to start slow(like most of us) and just get one, for now, I would get the 28-75mm. That is a good all around lens. I am not super familiar with that lens but I am very familiar with Tamron and they make great stuff. I have the 24-70mm and I love it, especially for photos. All my photo friends that do this all day long only use a lens in that focal length. Moral of the story, I'd recommend the 28-75mm. (Unless you are photographing a lot of indoor architecture stuff). Hopefully, this helps! :-)

Thanks a lot Brian for taking your time to answer my question. I greatly appreciate it. Well I'm still researching and trying to make a wise decision on what lenses and camera to buy. I'm fascinated with night video production and photography also. I watched your video about Sony cameras and I was killing myself laughing when you said "which camera should you buy? Sony A7iii or Sony A7sii? Your answer "neither" 😂. That's exactly my dilemma now because I'm still deciding between the Sony A7iii and Sony A7siii which is not out yet, damn it. Well I'm not in a hurry and I might even wait until spring 2019. That sounds like a bloody long wait but at least I'll enjoy watching your videos and other educational stuff. Thanks a lot again and keep having fun creating amazing stuff as you always do :)

Regarding the last bit...I'd love to see a tutorial on that!!! I'm talking the down and dirty of it...your shortcuts to shooting it first!....to the cutting technique. I think this technique is a major game changer for the average videographer.
@BrianAiken6 жыл бұрын
SweeT!!! Consider it done....wait! Which last part? I said a lot in the end. The part about obtaining movement? Tell me and I will do it! Thanks!!

I apologize as I was under the influence...I was referring to the constant cut style. I think I already figured it out on my own. I just re-edited a testimonial video using this technique. I simply made cuts and increased image size to 105% on every other clip. This made a BIG difference! Thank you for the inspiration. I'm about to buy a gimbal and watched your video on the subject...I'm just getting back into video after many years of live event videography (mostly). I used to shoot MMA almost exclusively. I'm headed down another avenue these days...currently creating video content for a heating/AC company. I'm shooting with a newly purchased Nikon DS7200. Any advise on a gimbal? I'm leaning toward the Zhiyun Crane Plus3-Axis. Any recommendations on a monitor? Thanks!

Hmmm...I just watched a video that used the crop/cut technique...people were HATING on it. Is this the new over used transition technique? I like it and will continue but moderate how often. It worked very well in your video as it was fast paced.

Great video! Where do you get your music?
@BrianAiken6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jonathan! A great super affordable music source is Art-List.io.. That is one of the best one's out there for the price, not the biggest selection but super awesome for the price. The sources for this video are from all over... I'd have to do a couple of hours of research to find all of them.. Ha. Hopefully you did the Art-list. :-)

Amazing video! Thanks for all the info. I was wondering if you can help me decide which camera to buy, I need the camera for taking pictures and videos of my kids at home and outside. Also I want to get a bit professional with it sometimes, I’ll make a studio and want a good quality pictures for the photoshoot.
@BrianAiken6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Amna! This is a tough one... You had me going one direction until you brought up the word studio. The decision is going to be primarily based on how much you have to spend. If you are just starting out, I would always suggest starting out with the lessor expensive options until you start to make money at it. Once it is creating revenue, then I would suggest moving to more expensive models of cameras. I typically will only recommend sony because of the things they do so much better than other cameras.... I'd recommend the these in order of least expensive to most expensive from Sony. A6300, A6500, A7RII, A7RIII. Depending on where you live in the world, you may be able to pick up one of these for a better price used. I buy from B&H used in the states all the time. What you are getting typically as you go up in cost is better stabilization, better low light, higher MP size and more focal points for auto focus. (That is a high level explanation of what you get when you spend more). Hopefully this helps. :-)

Brian Aiken *I need a camera just for recording golf swings* What is there available that is somewhat compact that would record and playback in the 300 FPS or more ? Or can you advise what I should read to get a better understanding of what features do. So I know what to shop for.

I have a question Brian. What type of camera do you recommend for low light situations. I go to EDM and music festivals. I take pictures and videos. So there is fast moving lasers and lights. I like to capture that on picture or video. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Love your videos! How do you edit your videos? Can you make a video on the programs out there??
@BrianAiken6 жыл бұрын
Hey Hina! I definitely have to do a video on that! GREAT IDEA! I use premiere. Ever since they moved to a monthly subscription it has made it a lot more affordable. But the main reason I started using it is because that is typically what the pros use and if I had any questions I know I could easily get answers. It has been my editing software for the last 7 years. I love it! Hopefully this helps! :-)

Do you recommend the Sony A5000 for vlogging??
@BrianAiken6 жыл бұрын
Yes, yes and yes! We use the A5100 for purely vlogging. It's one of the best cameras I have ever owned. You could not go wrong. If you could bump up to the A5100 I would. It's just a tad better. Hopefully this helps! :-)
