Story 1: Finally a smart protagonist. I would understand a gut reaction, but she somehow contained it and didn’t react. Then locked herself in a bathroom and called the police and didn’t let him know she heard him at any point. And only left the bathroom when police arrived.

I have a real life horror story too. I lived in Atlanta and came home one night and surprised a burglar. I froze and he ran. He ruined the door knob lock trying to pick the lock. I can't tell you how thrilled I was to go to bed that night with a door that wouldn't lock after surprising a burglar.
