Thanks for watching! Check the description for a list of the shows mentioned in this video as well as links to watch on KZbin. In the next part of this series I'll be going over Chinese dramas that are good to watch as an intermediate Chinese learner, so stay tuned! If you are looking for Chinese Materials feel free to check out my amazon shop page: www.amazon.com/shop/chaniece/list/2XV89FNJJ9ID. Thanks for your support!

Hi! If you're a U.S. citizen please consider interning with State Department or doing a fulbright ETA. You probably imagine yourself somehow disadvantaged when in fact the foreign service has since at least 10 and more like 20 years sought a diverse pool of talent to truly represent the U.S.A. I'm too old for any of those opportunities and yeah Chinese is a critical needs language. I've got no advice about Foreign Office/Ministry of Foreign affairs for other countries (for all I know you're from Canuckistant) Great video! Love your content, Tutu is such a great cartoo!

@@QuizmasterLaw Hey! Thanks for the suggestions :) it's funny because one of the reasons I started learning Mandarin seriously is because I heard it was one of the top three important languages to learn for US citizens, and I ended up coming over here and never leaving 😂. And thanks for the compliments! Glad you liked the video :) I looked up 学问猫 and it looks like a really cartoon so I will also look for Tutu! Thanks again for the suggestions. I'll also check out 白蛇传说!

@@thisischaniece idk if State Department can grant internships to non citizens but State cannot (and does not) distinguish between native born and naturalized citizens so... if you have your passport, go for it ! 加油

No shame in watching children's shows and reading children's books! I think the best way to learn Mandarin is to do it the way a child would tbh.

This is a great list! I would like to see you vlog on a common everyday situation like daily shopping or taking clothes to the cleaners or going to work. Everyday repetitive conversation really would be different ❤❤❤

I've been watching Peppa pig to improve my sentence structure, and it's nice to have a couple more to add to the list! I've watched a couple of the 爸爸我们去哪 and it's pretty good too! I'm excited for your intermediate list!
@thisischaniece2 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Yea, I am honestly more excited for the intermediate shows. Definitely some of my favorites that I started off with as a beginner because I completely skipped these beginner TV shows in the beginning. But honestly you learn a lot more from children's TV shows than you think you would!

ive noticed that u mentioned it's hard for u to find a show with subtitles .actually almost every chinese tv drama have exact chinese subtitles .like the hit show :Reset .u can find it on youtube .
@thisischaniece2 жыл бұрын
Hey Amy! Sorry, I realized I said that part incorrectly. What I meant was for some TV shows like 小猪佩奇 and 大头儿子小头爸爸 it was hard for me to find subtitles for them on KZbin! However, other shows like 熊出没,爸爸去哪儿, etc there is usually no issue finding these shows with subtitles. Hope I cleared that up!

Hi, thanks for your video and suggestions! May I ask where did you find videos with double subtitles? Or which extension/app do you use? Thanks!
@thisischanieceАй бұрын
One option on KZbin (if they have subtitles enabled) is to just turn on the closed-caption feature, you can also enable automatic translation. Aside from that Language Reactor is a good extension, not completely free but the free part of it is good enough. It also requires subtitles on KZbin to be enabled, so if you can't turn on closed captions it won't work. Language reactor works for Netflix too, but it's moreso for you to translate each word you see in Chinese, and you can also add words you won't know to a vocabulary list. I should do a full video on it actually, it's a very nifty tool.

@@thisischaniece I’ve always wondered can people learn a language (increase vocabulary) over time by watching say Chinese shows without English subtitles or do they need the English subtitles for context while hearing the Chinese?
@thisischaniece2 жыл бұрын
@@stephenreiss7181 It will depend on their level of proficiency. If someone has barely any grasp of Chinese, just learning it from TV won't help much. You might learn a few words or phrases that repeat often, but that's about it. Using TV as a supplement to other methods of study is a better way to go. Additionally, learning it alongside English is also an option if trying to increase vocabulary with more limited Chinese proficiency since you can see new vocabulary words in context. I would just make sure to use this as a temporary solution in the beginning since the thinking patterns of Mandarin and English can be so different.
