I can vouch for recreating / copying existing design. Its so criminally underrated and overlooked! I say this because I learned making music and using music production software exactly this same way. Why do this, and why is it effective, one might think; Because every design and creativity has 2 main parts - 1. The idea of what should be made, and 2. The process of actually making it. The "Copying / recreating existing design" already has 1 part solved - the idea. All you have to do is create it, and it. This forces the learner to focus on 1 thing at a time. So effective and underrated. Great rest of the list too, especially for someone who's getting into UX Design! Thank you for this video 🙌🏼

Hey, these are pretty nice exercises! Thank you for showing them to us. I recently started with transitioning from developer to UI/UX designer and at first it feels overwhelming to start portfolio projects from scratch. But by replicating an already good design I skip straight to the technical skills that I need to exercise first. Also the idea of recreating a design and then creating a case study for it is awesome because It's a good way of building a portfolio especially in the beginning of the job when you don't have enough real projects to show. Again thank you for this video.

you can do this! If design is where your heart is you can definitely do this. And yes, I know what you mean when you say it's overwhelming - I went through a phase where I didn't work for some time (due to the birth of my kdis) and when I came back I discovered that none of my old portfolio items stood any chance with the new design standards. One step at a time is a good and safe pace, right?

1. Recreate an existing design 2. Remove elements from a design to achieve minimalism 3. Create a redesign concept for a famous company 4. Create multiple instances of the same element 5. Make a mood board of designs you like and comment what you like on them
