Smallmouth bass are one of my favourite species too target! About 2 years ago I had never even caught one and now I’m competing and winning smallmouth tournaments. Wish people gave some more attention too smallmouth then largemouth it’s well deserved.

That's the key, Ben. Keep the fish guessing. Everyone around here is throwing whopper ploppers. ive had tremendous bites with the good ol' spook jr. the fish have not seen that one in awhile.

I love the jackhammer stealth blade but sometimes I’ll compare it with the Z-man diesel minnow and braid around grass to keep help keep it on top of the grass

Hey Ben. Great video and have been waiting for this type of video for a while as I look forward to your breakdown of your baits and set ups every year! The other Chatterbaits you have to try are the Mini Max which I have slayed the smallest back at the end of June on one of my favourite lakes up here in Ontario as well as the Freedom CFL football chatterbait. I will be trying the spybaits again, underpins and the wobble head on a new area I found on our big body of water of Simcoe. Was on so many Wolfpack at the end of July but they would not hit a thing. Couldn't believe there were still smallest on bed too?! So spawn and post spawn at the end July! Totally shocked but will try again with a couple of your ideas. Thanks and all the best!

I’ve seen the same all across Michigan. Finding some fish that are up cruising like zombies before the spawn. It’s certainly been a weird year. I’ll have to try some Mini Max
@peterhing3608 Жыл бұрын
@brnowak_fishing the Mini Max is even smaller than the stealth jack hammer but has a really good hook so it won't bend out as long as you do not over power it. I picked up a deal from my favourite tackle store here on actually a saltwater rod in a medium power moderate fast action. It is a 7 foot 1 inch and I paired it with a 7:1 ratio reel. I have 2 of these set up one for me and one for my son. It bends deep into the blank but still enough backbone to set the hook for the smaller stiff hook. This is a rod from 13 fishing but I believe it was a clearance sale so not sure if they make it anymore. Have a great rest of your season!

1 thing I can't stand is when people try and teach someone how to fish a bait who NEVER had success using it..Smh
@brnowak_fishing Жыл бұрын
I’ve had plenty of success fishing a chatterbait and I’m incredibly familiar with the area KVD was fishing so could understand his approach and why it worked. That being said, I made it a point to say it’s not something I’ve really used much, but I’ve also thrown a Swimbait a LOT for smallmouth - and a LOT for smallmouth on the exact spot he’s fishing
