This series is fairly simple--we are examining 5 incredibly popular fragrances in the online community that I believe will be hyped for all eternity. They aren't going anywhere, anytime soon. As a result, they get a LOT of limelight. Maybe too much. But this doesn't take away from the fact that they are all great fragrances for their own reasons.
So I figured I would offer some upgrades/alternatives to these fragrances in an effort to give you something a little different than what you typically see!

Two of my GREATEST Fragrances ever are on the list: Reflection Man and Ani! But I'm sorry to say (didn't mean to be rude) that I will never never drop those 2 for anything else, no matter how good, no matter how similar! Another amazing video. Most of the time, when im watching other reviewers, im usually fast-forwarding to see what fragrances they are talking about. Sometimes i stop to hear about some fragrances, but most of the time im skipping. Your videos on the other hand im watching entirely. "Side Effect" and "Instant Crush" are definitely my 2 favorites on this list. Of course I love "Oud Wood" by Tom Ford. Who doesn't though.

I’m curious about the Side-effect alternative. For me SE is absolutely amazing; it’s right for me. It was a profile that just hooked me immediately I don’t pay close to $200 for a fragrance unless it’s an absolute must have that ticks all the boxes. Perhaps not too exciting for some l, it’s everything I want out of it. I legit find the scent intoxicating and addictive, and find it a joy to wear. All that said, if the indie alternative, is in the same genre I’m now curious so thanks for suggesting. The Ani alternative sounds interesting, but rose isn’t a note that clicks with me. With rose toward fragrances, I feel like you can tell it’s there even when blended well. But not sure if this is a fragrances that has rose just in the background creating a symphony with the rest of the notes.

I'm really digging this series. I think your interpretations of what an upgrade is to these fragrances is fascinating. Can you do Issey Miyake Homme, Polo Blue and Aqua Di Gio? The 90s and early 2000s were when I first started noting certain colognes and of course those were the big ones at the time

I have Amaroud Oud Du Jour, and indeed, just like the name, it would be great as a daily wear fragrance; more interesting than Oud Wood. I think Oud Wood is often positioned by Tom Ford reps as a layering fragrance. For the other four recommendations, I had a reaction like seeing aliens for the first time, from houses totally unknown to me.

I had to come back and find this video because I got the discovery set of day three fragrances based on it. The house has so many good fragrances! Amber Dominicano has a medicinal edge that I really like and will work really well for the seven cold days that we get here in San Antonio. Lol. La tacita de cafe is AMAZING. Like Rojas Creation e but with coffee notes instead of powdery notes. Say Less is a top three Irish fragrance for me. It kind of smells like Masque Milanos L'Attesa with equal waxiness but sweetness in place of the powderiness. Bani is going to be a green, mango banger in the heat here. Thank you so much for bringing the house to my attention! P.S. I have a decant of 2nd soul coming. I can't wait to get my nose on it!😂

Ámbar Dominicano is fantastic, wore it to a black tie event… not a single compliment but IDC. I just kept getting whiffs of it and I knew I smelled amazing. I did 3 sprays and that was enough. I am Dominican myself, so by default, Ambar Dominicano is nostalgic for me haha. But boyyyy, the quality is amazing… Are you going to review any of the other day 3 fragrances? Curious to see your take on the discovery set. So far I’ve liked Filosofia and Silent Rescue (kind of reminds me of MidSummer Dream because of citrus and spice, but it’s not as sweet)… Still working my way through the set.

Side Effect was easily one of my most complimented fragrances, but I wasn't in love with it. I also have something that smells similar, but to me better, so I sold Side Effect to a friend who was jonesing for it.

Man I’ve got some updates, jpg lemale elixir.. 10, xerjoff ascot moon not sure how to rate that ( accidentally bought that thinking it was ivory route 😅 , labyrinth of spices 10! Cd lhomme parfum ! More makeup bag scent it smells exactly like a woman’s lipstick 💄 at first opening.. then simmers into a calm rose and sandalwood vibe… 10, ivory route.. I ll get back on that one. I also got this. Korean 50ml by alorea called fire.. ratings on fragrantica are not what I’d give this edp.. it’s definitely a 5 to me, because of uniqueness and fragrance. I’d give it a 10. Check that one out.and your selection is awesome!!

@@stayfreshproductions Jc is it just me or does ivory route smell reminiscent of pdm Layton , or if you want a less expensive clone , amber oud exclusive, blue? I immediately smelled that version of ivory route and said I’ve smelled that before . I had my wife compare and she said they smell 95% close.

When older my brothers started going to clubs they would always wear this fragrance called blue which was a knock off of JPG. Reflection man reminds me of that scent and I don't love it. It's cool, like PDM Pegasus, but I never gets me the way all the reviewers get... Then I tried 45, and felt the same. I guess it's just not for me

Question though… in one of your episodes awhile back you mentioned you used to wear Tom Ford Beau De Jour, but you replaced it with another barbershop frag you loved more. I have a question. You obviously own and review many fragrances that nobody knows and even if they saw them they would walk right by them. Do my question is…how in the hell do you know about all these fragrances? I have looked up a few of your bottles and they are so expensive and I can’t imagine you blind buy these or even have time to experience all of these scents enough to roll the dice. I know you play the trumpet at night and must have a job so how do you have the time? It’s pretty wild.

Haha. That was multiple questions. 😆 I will try to answer all of them succinctly. 1. I know about these fragrances because I often discover new brands on Instagram, or by word of mouth. 2. You may not be familiar with the lay of the land for most reviewers here on KZbin: it is not uncommon for brands to reach out to us and offer to send their products. So much of the time, the products you see featured by reviewers were gifts. Whether or not that review is unbiased is a case-by-case basis. But I have been a fragrance enthusiast for almost a decade, and have spend a LOT of time independently buying samples. 3. Operating a YouTtube channel is pretty much a full-time job. So I have monetized my efforts, and earn most of my income from my channel. I only perform on occasion, when I want to.

A signature scent for a 20 year old trying to look like an adult ;) Just some of your personal preferences so I can look for samples, I trust in your taste and knowledge
