I found one on some rocks at the beach at night this summer. It was eating a large black clam, and half of its body was coiled up inside it, and you could actually hear very strange sounds coming from the inside as the clam was getting devoured. Truly a sight to behold.

Cheo Samad tarantulas no. Scorpions yes. Been tagged by some nasty old world T's and a few species of scorps including androctonus sp. luckily none to ER, but I still am way too cautious to let my centipede get me. I'll take another morrocan cat tail sting before I let that happen

They are actually docile. This guy in the video is a clown. I have experience with wild caught centipedes, they are great creatures. All of them are docile and given the chance, make great pets.

That is correct. I myself as a child (being uninformed) did once consider them arachnids though. Chilopoda (centipede class) could be thought of this way because of their exotic appearance, or their possession of venom.

Well from what i seen most just feed them for a day. I had bark centipedes amd they like worms so i make sure that the substrate is full of em and they'll eat them as the days pass them i refill. But this species its most likely once a day and compared to the bark, these are extremely aggressive.

I always find the babies under rocks and wood. Babies are harmless they are pretty skidish and just want to find cover from the sun. Pretty cute things when they aren't 6 inches long.

0:30 Who has ever seriously had the misconception that they are friendly? Even at age 8 when I saw my first large centipede in Hawaii, I thought they looked like something that crawled up from hell. That said, some species of South American centipede are surprisingly docile and can even be handled.
Scolopendra heros or scolopendra polymorpha IMO. Tbh there are no "good for beginners species" because only the species of scolopendra genus are cool and common in the pet trade and all Scolopendra species have pretty much the same temperament but people usually keep polymorpha and heros as beginners because they are cheap.

So....it doesnt prove anything. Its harmless to people if they dont have alergie. I had been bitten by bees couple of times, and also by wasps, but i still live. So..it depends. There are people who die because of eating a peanut.

Well, being harmless to people doesn't mean that a bite isn't painfull. My Cupiennius salei male kills a grasshopper double it's weight so fast that the grasshopper doesn't even move a leg or feeler/ antenna anymore - it's like instantly dead with the bite, and still it's harmless; but I wouldn't want to get bitten by him.

I dont know, but i think cats and dogs tolerate that kind of poison. This is not cobra, its just an insect, and i havent heard about cats or dogs dying from insect bites. Although humans have died, i think pets have much more level of protection. Nevertheless i can assure you that cat would be not bitten, because of their reflexes. Though i dont know about dogs.

No, I don't think that centipedes are merciless hunters. I think they are docile enough to handle. If you don't harm or stress it, it won't attack. One day, I dug up a abandoned ant nest and I accidentally caught a centipede with my hand while I was digging. Guess what, it didn't bite me at all. Yeah, it was a small centipede, but still!

They are friendly...no they bite. But I do know that it is ok to hold yellow earth centipedes because they have super weak venom and they are so small that the jaws can not puncture human skin. How do I know, I held one two days ago
