Here are 5 ways to find more bucks to hunt this Fall, and the first way is to hunt more like a predator. The great concept about consistently seeing more bucks is that it is very easy to set yourself apart from all other hunters in the woods. Why? Because very few hunters have what it takes to see the best bucks in the neighborhood, every single year. Very few hunters follow all 5 of these hunting strategies. Here are 5 time tested ways to consistently see more bucks this Fall...

I harvested the best buck of my life this year, using some of your tips, and tricks. He’s a main frame 10 pointer, with a 2 1/2” kicker coming off the back of his left brow tine. He gross scored 146 5/8, and weighed 233 lbs. That might as well be a Booner in Cherokee County, SC. Thanks, and I love your videos.

I’m looking forward to this year on my lease. I’m goin to put your advice to work for me this year. I’m waiting on the weather to improve. We probably got 5-6 inches of rain here last week and the 1st of this week 70 degree days then Thursday the bottom fell out of the temps and we got snow ❄️ crazy messed up weather here in Tn. If you don’t like the weather here in Tn wait 5 minutes it will change lolllllllllll when it dries up I’m goin to turn my plot get it ready to plant thank you brother for taking time out of your busy days to share your information with us. If you get into high elevation areas, then "bucks bedding high" across the landscape doesn't hold on a larger scale because once you get above 4,000 feet the winters are brutal and there just isn't as much food or water. You'll see way lower deer density than a valley, but the deer you do see at high elevations are more likely to be mature and unpressured because people don't want to hunt up there.

Again..I can relate to all you say.Found 4 sheds on Tuesday .But saw 3 last night still holding. We got 4 inches of snow yesterday. By tomorrow their should be tracks everywhere .1 of the shrds I found is from a 4 year old that I never saw.Thought he was dead.I found both sides last year laying together.The one I found this year was 200 yards from where I found the set last year.He was a 7 last year. Found his 4 side Tuesday. Very heavy.Lots of mass.I have some good funnels in mind for this fall.Thanks again for all you do.

I would definitely agree with the distance getting back further is go but in my 2019 season had a chance at a 160 class buck that I messed up and I was only at the most 250 to 300 yard from my truck on public land. So I would say hunt where the people are not so it could go either way far back or near parking. But as always love the video and can always learn something new from them.

Great info as always. Hoping you get a cancellation so I can get you out to our 160 acres in Michigan. In March, April or May. It's kind of a unique property with alot of challenges as there is public land to my west and to my east is ag land. Lots of doe, think we may have a doe factory as we seen only a couple small buck this season and only two last season.

In higher pressure states, I find that on smaller public land parcels, you have to pattern a buck and try to take him out quickly before everyone else spooks him out. Later in the season, I move to larger parcels of public land where I can get away from others. Not to say I won't pattern and go after a big buck on a larger parcel early, but you have to hunt smaller public with a sense of urgency if you are to hunt them at all. You can't control others and in my state almost everyone hunts and most are the type to walk through bedding areas in mid-day, etc.

I have a new 72 acre parcel that has great potential! Only issue is the only access is from the north west point. We're trying to figure out how to set it up considering the majority of fall/winter Louisiana winds come from the north/north west. It's going to make scent control very tough.

Hey Jeff, if you were surrounded by ag and your food plot was on the east of your property... would you walk around the west side of the property when leaving a stand with a East wind? Just thinking if the deer are going to the ag after the food plot they are going to be in the east of my land and blowing my scent into the bedding wouldn’t be as bad with them out in the ag fields

I seen alot of big bucks last year. My trail cam picked up at least 10 in one area. Is it possible that those bucks will use that same area this year around that time? Peak rut in Tylertown, MS. So the rut can happen pretty much anytime down here. Usually from January 10th thru the end of the season. The weather has been quite warm for this time of year. We usually have 30's down here.

What if you have only 20 acres and next door is 100 acres (buck haven) that nobody can hunt on or even walk on? I eventually get venison at the end of the season but just watch the mature bucks 100 yards away during the rut.

I was doing this for the last few years in vernon county and after learning why they were bedded there and watching some whitetail habitat solutions and hunting public, I had the best season of my life so far and I didnt even kill a monster this year lol the reason for it being the best season so far was how many mature bucks I had in bow range this year. I just kept screwing up the opportunities lol but I learned more in the last year than I have in my whole life. Thanks Jeff you're the man!!!

I just picked op 600 acres last year and I have cameras out all year. I’m not seeing many does and I’ve got tuns of young bucks but the only time I’m seeing mature bucks is nighttime or during the rut. I have lots of edge and diversity. The property does have agg on it. This year was soybean in the summer and winter rye in the fall and winter. This season will be corn. I have about 25 acres for all deer all the time and in that 25 acres I put up cellular cameras so I can see the pics without going in for sd cards. I guess my question would be why am I not seeing mature bucks on my property
@kurtpearson8597
@kurtpearson8597 4 жыл бұрын
Marshall LAW sounds like you are one bed layer away from mature bucks. Food-Does and fawns first, then young bucks then mature bucks. You could try to add a layer (or two!) of bedding closer to the food. Young bucks shift closer and mature bucks fill in that 25 acres. Don’t forget to add side cover to separate bed areas. Good luck! And maybe look into Jeff’s books!!
@marshalllaw6541

I have the only cover for miles and the 25 acres I have gave up for bedding is so thick I’m not sure what I can do as far as cover improvements. There is lots of woody brows and briar thicket after prior thicket. It’s about 600 yards from field edge to the property line and it’s thick the entire way throughout except on small 1.5 acre clearing about 20 yards off the field edge that I think would be excellent for a good plot. I wish there was a way to share the Ariel photos with you

Fair enough. Mathews sponsors (so he probably can’t respond) and ships him their bows prior to them being released so I don’t know if he’s ever even picked up a carbon Hoyt. The best bet is how you shoot it. From the boards I’ve seen ppl saying they like the RX3 just as much as the 4 so not spending the money but I’ve never shot one. Shooting a Chill X 31” @ 65lbs - newer bows might be more advanced but I don’t think I could go shorter than 33” ATA again. Maybe try a Traverse to see if it blows me away then pick up a nearly new one off AT classifieds. Good luck with whichever bow you go with. It’s hard getting him to respond to questions on here, unless you’re immediately watching a new video it seems.

@Bubakarrr
@Bubakarrr 4 жыл бұрын
Could be a lot of things. Assuming the pictures are daytime ones, it could be you are accessing the property with the wrong wind, going too close to bedding or are too noisy or visible on your way there. It could also be that they take the same path as you and defect you’ve been there or you’re too visible in your stand. Hard to say. Try different things

I'm late in life trying to learn to hunt mostly on my own, didnt have dad or grandfather to teach me unfortunately, I am disabled and have 10 kiddos, 5 that are my blood that I raise and 5 step children, that's 6 boys and 4 girls, unfortunately I'm late at teaching them to hunt as well, I still have a couple at home so I'm trying now.. I am in Northern California mountains, trying to see if I can apply your information to my woods, learning as I go.. I did get a bear, my very first animal ever, now with deer coming up this week my son and I will go out and try, my wife and another son will try in a different area when it starts there in a few weeks, we tried last year with no luck but, I really need to make this happen this year, not sure how many more years this body will let me hunt but I will push it until I can no longer walk and find a way then but for now, I dream of trekking through the woods with my son and getting a buck together to share in a great moment and have that amazing memory, i see so many videos and just can't stop thinking how great it'll be when we finally succeed like so many others and have that story to tell and the food to bring to our table... I keep researching non stop and watch all your videos here, watch many others as well, I just dont want to teach my kids wrong or bad habits and have them respect this tradition and the history and hold on to it for the future and hopefully take their sons and tell them how I taught them and did it with them when I still was able to.... Lord willing.... Thank you for sharing the information with us less fortunate but willing to learn men out there....

You have to hunt places where there are lots of mature bucks. It is simple as that. If there aren’t many in the area you have almost no chance. Doesn’t matter how you slip in or out. Are you getting lots of big ones on camera? Are the neighbors consistently killing them? Do you see giant bucks when you are going in and out of your stands? If no don’t expect much.

@@robertayoder2063 you obviously did not read my comment and I’m pretty sure you have no idea as well…. Our environments are different meaning I live in south Louisiana so when he starts talking about saddles and ridges, we don’t have that here, it’s flat… also it’s either pine forest (not cedars) and swamps/ marsh’s…. Also there was a sentence in there that said “IM VERY NEW TO HUNTING”… so your dumb smart ass response was un-called for… but please, explain to me what he was saying if your so smart and just “it’s whitetail hunting”
