Nick is a class act. Comes across so well whether he's on camera or on a podcast and you can tell just how much he loves the game.

Tip 2 about distances is by far one of the most underrated aspects of on coarse knowledge that we all neglect, great video

My biggest take-aways from Nick, that I am still not doing consistently, are to focus on the process rather than the outcome, and to "aim small", particularly on recovery shots. Something we handicap golfers need to remember too is that 'taking our medicine' (and likely giving up a shot) is exactly what our handicaps are for. I've only properly come to grips with that idea recently. Now I can say to myself "I have 10 strokes so I can afford to use one on this recovery shot." I've probably saved 3 strokes a round by being willing to use my handicap.

People complaining that he’s a 10 handicap and won’t do much wrong are just wrong. A lower handicap will do many of the things wrong that a high handicapper will do, just a little less often. They’ll have a slightly better game to scramble and better ability with recovery shots to save a score. These tips are great and for everyone.

I’m a 2, I do all of these things as well. Just less often than everyone else. Golf is tough for everyone and every step of the way, even for low handicappers and people on the verge of scratch.

How does he hear all the right things then answer what does success look like wrong? The answer is this: I hit every single shot during an important round with full commitment, good posture, and did not once think about the score!

A low handicap player with years of experience was the challenge for the golf coach. Plenty of other videos out there for the high handicapper working on their game. Great video about actually playing golf! Excellent

Please, bring back the eyeglasses. Whoa! Nice clubs! Edit, so many gems, I'm saving it. "Before u take the club back, u and jon Rahm have the same ability." "A (questionable) decision with commitment will get a better result than a 'good' decision without commitment."

I don’t like his idea of success as he’s setting himself up for failure. Aiming to shoot better than your handicap means you’ve shot a rip snorter of a round as your handicap should be what you can play to not what you routinely play to. Don’t get me wrong we all want to have a blinder of a round during club champs etc but let’s be honest that will be the rare outcome. Good tips in the video though. Love the one about don’t hit it if you don’t believe it’s right. I do that too often.
@rufussthoo40833 жыл бұрын
Totally agree Nick. Your handicap is the measure of your potential, not your average. So, I'd think I had a successful day if I could play TO my handicap in a 'big' event.

Alright find someone with a 20-25 handicap and do the same thing. That person may care equally as much about golf but hasn’t had the opportunity to play a lot or pay for a lesson, let alone give this guy a free set of $2,000 clubs

@@annefilippobertozzi7601 I’m saying this guy with a 10 handicap doesn’t need that much help. They should find someone on course with a higher handicap and give them the chance to play/be caddied by a pro. They are going to benefit much more than someone with a 10 handicap

Really liked the rule of thumb for the effect that wind speed has… does this apply however regardless of overall distance of the shot… I.e. same for a 100yard wedge shot as for the drive off the tee?
