YES! I hate the rhetoric that "love isn't enough". Maybe just feeling warm and fuzzy toward your child isn't enough, but true love that fights for our kids and sees the best in them HAS to be enough. It's what God does for us. 💜

I suggest taking the kids to powwows. All are welcome at powwows, so it would be great. Your son can learn about drumming, or dancing. And your daughter can learn about jingle dress or fancy shawl dancing. They also have Indian tacos there, fry bread, all types of things.

I never knew anything about fostering, adopting before coming across your channel. I really appreciate your open honesty and think it is invaluable for your children. No doubt they will grow into their best possible selves thanks to the openness with which you live. Your household seems relaxed and happy & what more could any child ask for. I'm so thankful there are people like you in our world. 👍💚💪

I love this! My son is 3 and biracial (white, black, and Puerto Rican.) We met my husband when he was 10 months old and we tell him about when we met daddy all the time. People try to say that he's too young to talk about that...why? It's not a dirty secret, it's how we made our family. We make time to see his Puerto Rican family and he has a biracial uncle that sees him pretty often. People ask me why I bother doing this, as well. Because it's important. Because I never met my father and no one told me I was adopted until I was 8. I don't even have a picture of him. I don't feel bad about not meeting him, but it would at least be nice to know if I look like him or not, just out of curiosity. I don't ever want my son to feel like his blackness, his heritage, or his family is something to be ashamed about.

I am sorry that you were not told that you were adopted until you were eight. What were your parents thinking!?!

@@mikewrasman5103 My mother is my biological mother, but my dad isn't. They just told me that he was dad and didn't let me know that I had a different father. The messed up thing was they told me this while they were in the process of divorcing. So I lost "dad" and also my reality of who he was/I was. It was tough, honestly.

Do you know what tribe your children are from? Each tribe has their own traditions and cultural variations. Connecting them to their people on that level would be so valuable! There are many books and resources written by Native American authors that are specifically meant to educate and teach kids about their culture both past and present. I would highly encourage you to look into those! :) Ps. Disney's version of Pocahontas is actually extremely inaccurate and misrepresented. Not bashing you for trying by any means, but as the children get older it is important they know the truth about Native American history. Much love! 🥰

Unfortunately, in Ohio, you cannot take your foster to church, talk to them about religion, et ceter, without the consent of the biological parents.

They are a small group that lived in Burma. There was mass persecution of their people group and they all fled to Thailand to live a refugees. Augustine and Nay were born on a refugee camp in Thailand and then later were able to seek asylum in the US! Then finally they were placed in foster care! They are miracle kids for sure! I'm so thankful they are even alive!
