I love how fluent and fast your high kicks are. Could you make a video on ways to block and avoid kicks from the opponent in sparring please? Thanks 😁

Alex, after the front snap kick, axe kick, side, and roundhouse, what is the next kick to learn? Also, what is the first spinning kick you should learn? Thanks.

Thank you Mrs. Wong, do you try to pivot your foot all the way back? Or just go with it?
@AlexWongTKD7 жыл бұрын
Definitely recommend pivoting the foot back to get a nice rotation on the roundhouse!

Alex I've added bagwork in my workout routine lately ( punches then eventually kicks ) What is your recommendation for time for example do you recommend trying to do as many reps in a time frame like 30 seconds to a minute or just aiming for reps along with the sets ? or both . I'm not a competitive fighter but I like some of the TKD stuff for fitness benefits. great video btw
@AlexWongTKD7 жыл бұрын
I usually like to mimic sparring rounds. So i'd do like 3, 2 min freestyle rounds with 30-40 sec rest in between each round and do that like 5 times for a really good workout. If its just something small to add to your workout just do the 3 rounds. But that is what I usually like to do :)
@davidf.porfirio93637 жыл бұрын
Alex Wong sounds good. Typically most of my sets are 3 anyway so it's perfect timing . I'll do it . Thanks Alex :) I look forward to more training tips

Great video,I have trouble double roundhouse in southpaw side stance can't seem to release hip quick enough plus left leg weaker one in back,when orthodox fight Thai so very easy that side as power leg back,any tips ???
@AlexWongTKD7 жыл бұрын
I recommend trying a front leg double roundhouse leading with the left leg so you get used to leading with it and having to turn that hip over but you don't have to quite as much compared to starting with the rear leg. Once you get used to the front leg one then start trying it with the rear leg leading first. Hope that helps!

Alex, I am having difficulty doing any type of round house with the left leg. My hip has this piercing pain when I try to do it especially when I do a spinning round house with the left leg. I only experienced this pain when I join TKD. I feel like it's bad form but others in my dojo have the same problem especially black belts. What can I do to improve my hip pain so I may continue sparring and achieving higher rank belts. Currently low green in tkd ITF.
@AlexWongTKD7 жыл бұрын
First I would take those kicks step by step and make sure you are properly doing the kick without under or over rotating or extending while performing the kick. I don't have much advice to give on hip pain BUT I did a video with my friend Donavan on hip conditioning drills so I do recommend you try those out as well to see if it helps at all! Here is the link to the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGfFoISemN2ma6M

Should you follow up after throwing the defensive roundhouse? Or is the distance it creates enough?
@AlexWongTKD7 жыл бұрын
If you are still in good kicking range to land another shot then definitely follow up if you have the opportunity! Sometimes it does create enough distance but sometimes it may not depending on your opponents movement.
@arulipillai49827 жыл бұрын
Alex Wong Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply!

Are these good for amatuer kickboxing? I have a fight in December. My first one.
@AlexWongTKD7 жыл бұрын
I think they can be but I would probably put more hip and pivot into your kick for kickboxing vs a TKD kick being more of a quick snap.
