I attended a lecture by Mary Ellen Hopkins 30-some years ago and thought afterwards that she could make a one-armed blind woman believe that she could make beautiful quilts. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon my first Pat Sloan video and there you were with two hands in casts, posting DAILY videos, and still somehow working through projects. I never thought I would see another quilter that brought MEH's level of energy, commitment and inspiration, but you have proved me wrong. Thank you for all you do to promote the quilting lifestyle.

I feel so overwhelmed if I have more than 2 quilts going at the same time. I watch you in awe. I do need 2. I can only fmq an hour a day on my domestic....so I am usually cutting and piecing one and quilting another. I don't have a sewing room and live in a 1200 ft house. My family would evict me if I did more than 2. They sigh every time I finish a quilt and pick everything up. I commit each time to not spread out and have things on the dinner table and all over the family room ironing and sewing and startching on the line in the laundry room or on the patio. Not to mention all the fabric stashed under my bed. I had to give quilting up when the kids were small, but those that still live here know better than to comment on the inconvenience. It is the price of free rent and their bedrooms would make a very nice sewing room. Your videos keep me FOCUSED. I watch every morning and work from home, so after watching you, I know what piece I am likely to get done that day and when I am going to get to it.

Watching your video every morning with a cup of coffee makes me so happy. Such a lovely start to the day. Love to plan how to fit some quilting in; be it half an hour after supper or a wonderful all day of quilting. Quilting feeds my creative side. Your suggestions to show your blocks or answer questions brings us together as a quilting community. Who hasnt worked hard to finish up hoping to be in a parade of quilts? I haven't had the time to devote to a guild right now, but I do have time to watch your videos and learn. Thank you for your unique perspective and extreme quilting knowledge that makes this so fun! And don't we all love your humility and wonderful laugh. You make quilting real for us.

I consider you a quilting friend although we have never met in person. Your “Good morning, friend” makes a great start to my day. One of the things that you do so well (and is rare to find) is show the how’s and why’s of fabrics working together. Another thing I really enjoy about your channel is that we are always sewing a quilt together - whether it’s a weekly quilt along, or another project. I love the seeing how different fabrics play together in the quilt parades. Thank you for all you do!

Pat, I love starting my day watching your video with my morning coffee. You've inspired me in so many ways! I started the year re-organizing my quilt room(s) with your timetable and have managed to keep organized with your 10 minute tidy-ups. Knowing where all my supplies and fabrics are has definitely enabled me to finish more quilts. I especially enjoy when you walk us through making fabric choices for blocks, borders, bindings, etc. Fabric choice was always difficult for me and I've learned so much from you! I agree that quilting is a way of life. I would be lost without having quilting projects to dream about and work on. Thank you for showing us how to make the most of our quilting time. Love you!

I am not a guild person, I take things at my own pace and mostly do one project at a time. I do not like feeling pressure at all for quilting, that would totally take the joy out of it for me. Every morning I watch your video and it starts my day with a smile. I love quilting but I am a busy girl so I usually quilt in the evenings and enjoy my sewing space when go to my room each day. You are real and you show how you do things and I like seeing others processes, including your mistakes. I look at you as a mentor for sure. It always makes me smile and while I will never make as many quilts as you do I love watching you and others ideas and quilt processes. Your positive attitude is a blessing.

Im probably late in finding your channel but now it’s my daily mid morning treat and I never miss a single episode. I agree quilting is a lifestyle and gently correct my husband when he calls it my hobby! Then as they are finished I allow two more to reappear. Jane

I enjoyed this topic today! It helped to know that you also get overwhelmed 😅. I have not been able to keep track of hours spent on projects, but I do write things down. Yes, your 5 steps were very helpful. I have become more organized AND more productive, having watched you this past year. Breaking down big projects into mangable pieces, committing to spend xx amount of time sewing the pieces, and having a simple project to sew in between piecing the main project has been what I have learned for you. You're right. Quilting is our life, and right now, it's my best life. Thank you Pat Sloan ❤

Your channel is a continuation of having listened to your podcast for years for me. You remind me why I enjoy quilting. You bring in the history, and the modern, in fact all the choices. I just perk up when you bring in others, either through interviews or patterns. Awesome, Pat! Love the light pink inner border and the striped outer border. The 5 steps to getting control are great. Although I am retired my schedule gets hectic. I do not belong to a guild and have no friends that quilt. So enjoy the ocassional class I take at my local quilt shop. Gives me a chance to share and learn in a community of quilters. Just something about women getting together to sew that brings so much pleasure. Tuning into your videos is similar. You may say you don't do instructional videos but I beg to differ. I have truly learned so much from you over the years. You have given me the courage and knowledge to tackle projects I would have thought beyond my experience in the past. I watch just to see the way you work through projects on all different schedules: a block a week, a block a month, whatever. Then there is the way you may be working on a couple of different “block a week” at the same time, but you use your calendar to keep them all straight and moving forward. I haven’t quilted along with you yet, but I have gotten a lot of encouragement for moving my different projects forward on a regular schedule. It helps a lot.

Good morning Pat. I could have used this advice a few months ago. I make quilts for each grandchild as they head off to college. This year we had 3 graduating and 2 new babies in the family that needed quilts. So i had to wait until each child committed to a college so i could do the quilt in those school colors. In a six week span of time, i had to make 3 quilts and 2 baby quilts. In the middle of all that my granddaughter switched schools. She got a better scholarship package... right after i finished her quilt. Sooo, add another one to the pile. Lol I never thought to ask for help! Even if someone just cut the fabric for me, that would have been a big help. You really got me thinking today, Pat. Thank you.

Just doing the list is a tremendous help 🫨thank you for the “push” in the right direction… now I can SEE what it is that I need to work on first!!! Yes, I also am one of those quilters who has multiple projects going at once… but isn’t it great FUN!! I ❤you

I was very excited to see this topic with your 5 steps. Very helpful and informative. Since you juggle being a fabric designer, running a business and home life; this advice helps us how to manage our quilting schedule. A better approach to not feeling so overwhelmed and getting more done. Thank you.

You are the first thing I do every morning around 6 with a hot cup of coffee. I have learned so much! I love watching you put blocks together into a quilt. I like to watch you put fabrics together which is scary to me😳. It’s such a hands on! I love it! I’ll b glad when august is over so there’ll b more if you. You are a great teacher.

I really like the idea of the ballerina pink as an inner border and the stripe as outer border. I agree with you.

Thinking the "grunge" fabric used for Flo's legs would make an excellent border or binding, BUT since you don't have it, I'm leaning to the strawberry fabric for the border & then use the stripe for the binding. Enjoyed my visit to the Sloan Zone, your videos are an inspiration. Aging is a total bummer! I'm currently working on multiple projects, but it's getting on my nerves big time! Either have to hold off on a few projects & concentrate on them one at a time, take a vacation...I'm ready to run away from home for a some peace & quite😮😮‍💨 or just pack everything away for awhile😮🫣😮‍💨

I love the stripe for your flamingo border. I have NEVER been start-to-finish, one at a time, for ANYTHING in my life EVER! 🤣 Multi-tasker is my middle name, whether its quilting, knitting, crocheting, working, or even housework. I like to have options - various projects/plans in various phases & stages. It can be overwhelming to hve so many options to choose from, but im never bored, & always have something that satisfies my craving.

I love the stripe for your Flamingo, and I love your idea of a small inner border in the light pink.

I love the idea of a small ballerina pink border, followed by the strawberries. You could use the pink with red stripes as the binding.
