I grew up in a time when I bathed in a wash tub, had no indoor plumbing, washer or dryer . We had an out house! My parents were boomers who born in the thirties and forties. No bathroom in our families house until 1986! We raised our own food too. My grandfather farmed with horses! He really DID homestead our farm! No power won't affect us a whole lot, depending on the time of year, if the freezer foods will survive. Even in summer it will last a while , then you get your butt going canning and drying!!! The rest dog food! It's nice having a food stock , but I also know how to get food so! Drinking water is what worries me. You can flush your toilet with a five gallon pail of river water, otherwise build an out house! Learn to live in less . We all did it at one time.

generators are only good i feel in an emergency that hits quick and is resolved within at most 10 or so days, after that, and when folk have run out of any provisions they may have had and start to get desperate, they will be attracted by the sound, and look on it as someone that has long term provisions and capability, i have a generator, i only use propane as its cleaner, causes less carburation and general fouling of jets, lines, etc, plus propane is easier to store and lasts a lot longer in storage, not economical for long term use, but a good back up for short term power outages.

I do not mean to sound like “that guy” - but i would like to explain something quick for you. In any/every public building, there is a very specific electrical and fire code that we follow when doing mechanical work. In terms of doors - there are exterior doors, interior doors, security doors, etc. Each and every door is designed to do something different, but they all have one “thing” in common - that being the safety of the public. I’m going to explain how “electronic” doors work - so that you have a better understanding. One example being your average corridor set of doors - in a normal situation/scenario, “you” will see these sets of doors held open “electronically” … this word is technically not the correct word. Doors are held open or shut electrically - by temporarily energizing a coil, creating a magnet. Electricity holds the doors open, and in the event of a fire… the fire alarm system is connected to almost every door in the building. If the fire alarm is set off by fire/smoke - corridor doors that are electrically held open will automatically close to prevent smoke from spreading from one area/section of the building to another. BUT, you can always open these doors via handle or panic bar. The same thing applies to most other doors, its all about the safety of the public. Security doors for example, they might require a keyfab or badge scan device to open the door… but it’s held shut due to electricity. In the event of a power failure, these security doors are normally on back-up power, via generator. But my point is… it’s all about the safety of the public, the number one biggest “thing” in all public buildings is the safety of the public. These security doors for example, they may only open from the outside via keyfab or badge, BUT there is always a panic bar/crash bar on the inside that always allows the employees and public to exit no matter what. The same thing goes for exterior doors, for example in a school… you can not open these doors from the outside without a keyfab or badge, BUT they always have an emergency exit, crash bar, or panic bar that allows the public to exit. My overall point my be lost in translation lol sorry. Buildings are designed around public safety, the public can not physically get trapped inside a building. Just so you know, each and every door has a purpose, but they will all let “you” out of the building no matter what. Some doors may mainly operate “electronically” - but there is always a way to manually exit. I know this from experience, I have wired a million different types of doors. Most doors are connected to both the fire alarm, the security system, and line voltage… some much more complicated than others. Think of it this way, not everyone is allowed in to certain areas - but everyone can easily get out of all public areas, even of the highest level of security clearance. Even a roof top door for example, most people don’t realize this, but if you were to find your way up to the roof - it requires security clearance to exit the building out on to the roof. BUT, you can always get back in to exit the roof without clearance. The complete opposite of what they depict in movies lol. Its designed so that the public does not have access to the building’s roof top, but it’s also designed so that you can never get trapped/locked out on the roof. The same concept applies to all doors through-out a building. Doors are specifically designed around getting the public out in a hurry with zero problems… other than being trampled lol. Long story short… you can get locked out of a building, but you can never be locked in. Anyway, when the power goes out… everything that everyone depends on will stop working lol and the majority will “vanish” within a month… thats for sure!

They have the fix to keep the grid going, but didn't think it was worth it. Also you'd think there would be a way to have nuke generators able to feed there operation power from what they produce. Our thirty year old washing machine motor died (2nd one installed since mom had it) last fall. We are military veterans here so we purchased a camping laundry washing bag with plunger from Amazon and a small portable washing 11L machine for our graphic (nerdy) t-shirts,underwears and light clothing. We use our Bluetti portable generator to run that as welll as the Laundry Alternative to spin it,than hang dry in the boiler room or enclosed patio. We had to get the chimney repaired after twenty years of weather, bricks on the top had started to deteriorate, and with every heavy rainfall, there would be a small pond in the boiler room. We did that during the spring as well as prune our old pear tree in the back,is still producing pears, but a lot of old heavy tree branches had to co,e down. Chimney work $2,800.00 Tree pruning $1,400.00 The washing machine was NOT on the priority list, and mom said "I still have my "washing board" from the West Indies in the basement closet." 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I just left a rather lengthy message… but you said something that makes want to leave another one lol sorry. You have a large audience, i’ve got a good one for “you” to think about and put in perspective for the audience… As you mentioned, everything is powered by electricity… i’m going to tell you a quick story about what happened one year here when a hurricane came nearby… I live in an area where it’s extremely rare to have a hurricane… but it happened, and it didnt even hit us hard, but it took out the power in a huge area. Anyway, here’s what i learned… all of the gas stations within 75 miles were closed. Except, “you” (the driver) don’t realize it. So, here is what happened to me… lol. I filled up before the storm, but i ventured out after the storm, went to friends/family etc. Then, a few days later… i said to myself, you know what… i only have a half a tank left, and there is no telling how long the power might be out, i better go find more gas. So, i drove to the closest gas station… it was closed. Drove to the other gas stations in town, all closed. So i drove to the next town over, went from gas station to gas station - all closed. Funny enough, a lot of other people were doing the exact same thing… searching for gas, while burning gas. What’s “funny” is that “you” don’t want to give up and turn around and go home after wasting gas to find gas… you know what i mean? Lol. “You” think there must be a gas station open somewhere, or using a generator to power the pumps… but nope. Now, this was just a small event, there was no power across the state for 2 or more weeks… BUT, there was no gas to be found on Day 2 of the storm. You know what i mean by all of this? Imagine “this” being a nationwide power outage… all of the fuel would vanish within just days, literally. Then, people who need fuel/gas go out in search of it… only to find nothing is open and waste a lot of precious fuel searching fuel lol. Man… when the power goes out due to a large scale event… when there is no electricity, there is no fuel, and no trucks to re-fill the stations lol. When the shhhh hits the fan… there won’t be any gas stations open, and everyone will run out of gas within just a few days. Very few people will be wise enough to stay home and not waste their remaining precious fuel. When the shhh hits the fan… it’s going to be really loud for a short time… and then really quiet for a reallllly long time lol (That’s my copyrighted saying by the way - i’ve been saying “that” for years… “its going to get really loud for a short time, then reallllly quiet for a very long time…”)

I’m caring for my elderly parents and I thought through all of this as well. I’ve done basic preparations for years and then lost half my income which makes it harder to keep doing what my goals were…….but I’ll tell you, if it’s that bad, very few people IN ANY KIND OF TOWN OR CITY LIVING are going to make it past a month. In the country, a well stocked homestead will be fairly comfortable for what maybe 6-8 months?? Man, as Americans WE GO THROUGH A LOT OF FOOD AND OTHER ITEMS…..A LOT! Then you have the marauders. Things like no A/C can be a killer for elderly, etc.

Uh . . . I like your approach . My name is not Buba . I ran his stinking ass out of my little local community and in the process some of the so called' 'Uppercrust' enforcement types . Those that loose there bite when up against 'pillers of the old guard' . There mind gets fragile when loosing backup . What I'm saying is all of us become deficient outside of norms . The movie 'Pale Rider' comes to mind lol. . We are being forced out of the nest , it's deliberate . The fewer of us to deal with the better for the 'Beautiful People' . 😮 Don't be devastated like the guy's spit on when coming home from foreign wars . The 'Green Breit' I'm thinking of is back home with seven kids and who knows how many grandchildren . Can't take that away from a man ♂️ lol. . . . T/C/E

When I was a 6 year old boy either my mind or God told me I had nothing to ever worry about because He already had the Earth protected. I refuse to live in fear. I barely eat one small thing a day. Many days nothing. I used to fast more than I ate. I've got a month of water put away that's all I need. If you Sir live another 40 years you are going to look back at all the years you wasted waiting for the end to come but nothing ever happened. You'll say I could of taken my wife already the world. I could of done this and that. Instead you're hiding behind all your guns afraid of every shadow and snap of a twig. Sorry pal, I don't buy into the fear trap, it's just another form of mind control.
