I found a Weller Antique 107 today... after bourbon hunting a month for it I found it at around MSRP in Oklahoma where most stores want double MSRP on alocated stuff I was searching in the Cream Liquerre section and this store participates in shelf hiding allocated items and right next to the bailey's 3 aisles away from the Bourbon was the Weller 🤣

​@andrewparisotto2631 every major grocery store gets both of those and better on a regular basis, most don't put them on the shelf ever to find something like that on the shelf you have to get lucky with an owner that is unaware of the hype and value. get to know the wine steward at your local Kroger or whatever grocery store you go to. buy a couple regular bottles from them, ask about their favorites, buy a store pick ect. in no time you'll get all the goods, really doesn't take much. just more than showing up to a store you've never been to and asking for staggs lol

guessed half of these lol. I have been in this industry my entire life on retail and distro side of things. my dad raised me in a liquor store he owned, but bourbon didn't explode until a few years before covid, before that all the collectors were into scotch. now I work for the company that distributes sazerac products in my state. I love all the videos on how to get allocated product regularly. they're always spot on. I love this channel for the bottles that aren't driven on hype. very fair reviews imo

For the older gentlemen at my wedding I had a few bottles of Jack Daniels Single Barrel select, and boy was that stuff good. The best bourbon I have tried so far! (Only had about 8 bottles so far or so) I agree with Jill on that one, its my favorite hands down.

Just got back from a New York City trip. Almost every liquor store has about a dozen of every bottle of Weller, Blanton's, etc however the price markups are absolutely insane. An Antique 107 for example I consistently saw for 250$. 400$ for the regular blanton's bottle. To put into perspective I live in Waukee Iowa (suburb of Des Moines) and bought the same bottle of blanton's for 80$. The only thing missing in Iowa though is the availability of such bourbons. For example Another liquor in my area, I spotted a Weller CYPD and never saw a Weller in my area ever again. In the end I did not want to leave NYC Empty handed in regards to picking up a bottle I cannot find at home and ended up with an Eagle Rare 10 year for 100$ (another NYC store had it as low as 90$ on a later night). I cannot find this bottle at home either, and could possibly play the risk game of buying one online and risking it being a re-filled bottle of a cheaper whiskey. Overall im really happy with my Eagle Rare 10 year bottle and actually prefer it slightly over my Blanton's bottle.

I have some buffalo trace expressions in the vault and bring it out from time to time to share with others, although Weller is the only really great one to my pallete. I always have rare breed and 1920 and 101 and old num 7 on bar. Also. Always Redbreast and other pot stills, and always an Irish single malt.

I also have a 2020 WLW. Mine is about half gone and once it got that low, I put the rest in an old Weller SR 375 bottle. Keeps the oxidation down but that way I don’t have to rush to finish it off.

Perhaps, it is a bit of romanticizing and/or different place in bourbon journey in years back, but too-many really good bottles have now become Unobtainium for too-many of us. Lots of blame to go around (hot market, FOMO, greed, 3-tier system, etc. etc.), but I do have to wonder about the role certain distilleries play in this inability for average retail customer to purchase top-shelf products at actual MSRP; I’m especially looking at you, Buffalo Trace, for your inordinate prominence amidst this situation. Was lucky enough to have an awesome neighbor that let me try the W.LW. smoothest and best bourbon I've ever had. I just recently tried a Blue Note Uncut unfiltered and a Balcones True Blue cask strength... Both were phenomenal to me. But I would love to know your rating. Blantons straight from the barrel makes me selfish. It’s absolutely amazing. Single barrel on steroids. Finally picked one up on a Germany trip for €250. Not bad for secondary. I haven’t seen one here at home in the US. Half the bottle vanished in one night with my close buddy it was so good

I Just can't get into 4 roses as being great, It's just a good average bourbon. I've tried 7 or 8 and ok it's good but... It's just that, Good, NOT great. I'd rather grab WT101 Or Rare Breed. The Weller 107 is impossible to find in The AZ, anymore so it's out. Knob Creek 9Yr Sigle Barrel is easily obtainable and fantastic as well. WLW is insane but Unobtainable it's the best of the best and ALL I'd need for the rest of my life If I could EVER score one.

Might be me, there are points in this where I just wish he’d STFU. Downing 4 20 oz mugs of high octane caffeine (like 4hr old Mini-Mart coffee with 5 Tblspoons of Folgers instant in the bottom of the mug) doesn’t help. Having a word counter going to help him calc his $0.05/word revenue is borderline annoying AF. And trying to get her involved, only to have her looking at him and rolling her eyes doesn’t help.
