@Suzanne Webb I just cut my hair shorter too. In the Netherlands where I now live, most women over 55 wear it short as well. I find it's probably due to rainy wet weather. Riding bikes and being outdoors more. My hair can't take the wetness and it just goes flat. The synthetic wigs I wear hold their style even when wet!

I started wearing wigs after I retired because we love to cruise and who wants to keep styling your hair all day. It made going out for the evening much easier. All of them are Raquel Welch. I love the styles and how well they’re made. But recently I’ve decided to go gray in stages, and no longer does my hair match my wigs. I wear my hair just below my shoulders and at 75 I’m pleased to have thick shiny hair. I’m sure I’ll be buying a wig or two as soon as the gray grows out. Just found your channel and subscribed.😊

My favorite on you is Well Played. I am a long length wig wearer. I’m almost 68, but have not gone all the way silver. I did grow my hair out about 5 years ago, that is how I started wearing wigs, but after it was all grown out I decided it aged me alittle so went back to my blond color. I now wear toppers, which I turned to because of regrowth and having to dye my hair often, also the Texas heat can be overwhelming with a full wig on. I enjoy your videos, I think when I turn 70, I’ll be ready to go completely silver. You look beautiful in silver and all the wigs.

I watch Taz's Wig Closet; a lovely lady who shows the potential of all wigs, along with lots of advice. As you were using a brush on your curly wig, I just wanted to let you know that Taz stressed to use a wide tooth wig comb, especially with curly wigs or, better still, only your fingers in many cases. If you use a brush on curly/wavy wigs, you can brush the curl out or make it go frizzy. It's one of the best pieces of advice I've learnt to avoid spoiling your wigs.

I love how you make wigs look so natural. You know, you're a beauty without the hair! I bought Paula Young head band system in silvery moon and it is SO thick, it truly looks awful. I have wasted so much money lately. My hair has been falling out for months. I am so distraught, I don't know what to do. I can't drive so walking miles to grocery shop.. oh my. Rennie, hang in there. I'm 72, and my hair is so thin from life-saving drugs. Wigs are far too expensive now. I mostly get by wearing an olive drab "outback hat," which protects my skin from the sun. You can get them at WalMart. I recieve lots of compliments on my "outdoorsy" look. I also see beautiful women using square silky scarves in clever ways to cover and enhance their hair. Don't buy real silk--it spots in the rain! Not that real silk is affordable, but you might come across it at a yard sale. We ladies have to get clever as we get older. Get some inexpensive, sporty man-style fedora hats for winter and straw ones for summer. Wigs are SO hot in summer, you might as well wear straw hats. Be aware that wigs are a bear to maintain, and they wear out quickly. KZbin experts admit that the average synthetic wig lasts 3-6 months of daily wear. The fibers are actually just plastic, and so vulnerable. Many of them frizz just from the heat of your head or neck. And when the wind blows, well, forget it. Everyone knows you're wearing a wig! I speak from experience. Free yourself with hats, and perhaps save up a bit each month for a wig you like. God bless you. 💖

I’m so happy I found your channel! I’ve grown out my grey hair and it is a beautiful pure white in front and sides, but still salt and pepper at my crown and the back. I’ve been thinking about coloring my hair again (no way I’ll do it now) because my skin is so fair that I think I always look washed out. I like the Raquel Welch "Current Events" the best. I now have my hair this length and I love it. My hair was longer before and it was very hard to manage. I am an older woman too and I find that for me, the medium length is easy to manage while still being very feminine. My hair is also the same color as this wig. I should get it as a backup.

Fabric softener exactly!!! I use spray rubbing alcohol inside wig? And fabreeze spray . The less water on the hair the better. Great video!!!!!

The longer ones look really beautiful on you! I love longer hair on women in their 50's, 60's... it's got nothing to do with age. If long hair suits you better, if it's more adapted to the shape of your face, the style of your clothes, you will choose to have longer hair. Just found your channel, and I'm enjoying it. You are bringing up all the points that I fear about even trying a wig. I worry about it having too much volume. I'm not sure how to choose a color, let alone a color I'll feel comfortable in. Then there are all the options. I haven't a clue what they mean to place an order. Then there is just the fact that I've never even tried a wig. Even for a costume. The list is long. If you steam the wig with rollers? Will keep the hair curled until you wash or steam again . Let completely air dry after steaming. Steam method for matting , tangles, will keep a wig pin straight or curly for a very long time I can keep a wig 2-4 yrs doing this steam method. Use a hand held clothing steamer On a wig stand or on a clothing hanger with clips....Great job on this video!!!!

Others have found that some of the new Wigs have a silicon nape and you can use wig tape to secure or sew in a comb at the nape and securing under a wig grip. If you can find a wig salon, they will have more options and can show ways to alter the cap to a more perfect fit.

Well Played is my favorite, especially when you leave it forward. It's okay when you pull it back, but you look younger when you don't do it. Hair naturally falls forward. All of these wigs are pretty and you wear them all well. 💕💕💕

Thank you so much Diana, I've never had one come off or slip back. I have one wig that it more comfortable without the wig grip and I use the Stay Jomi Compression roll on Body Adhesive. It's feels the most secure. It's come off with warm water washcloth pressed to the front of the wig. I even wore it recently on an international flight (13 hours) I was so scared, security would tell me to take it off. They didn't! I was prepared to take it off when everyone went to sleep and put a silk cap on but it wasn't necessary.

Shelly, cold water and about a Cap full. I suggest not to use on hand Tied. Unless you you only dip the hair not the cap. It can lossen the knots. These are all synthetic and not hand Tied.

You're so right. Make up first. I can wear anything if I have my eyebrows on. But it's difficult to find clear gray. My grandson suggested that with many middle eastern citizens in Michigan, that we Black and White ladies are accustomed to more eyebrow. Yes! It's just one thing I do. Some people have no bio hair and of course wear wigs! So it would be a great choice!

I use two, one for filming and going out, Lancôme, Ultra Wear, I buy in the states at Ulta. The other I swear is a dupe, Maybeline Super Stay, 24 hr skin tint. I buy at Target. I use it for my everyday. Important, I use Benefit’s Pore fessional Lite Primer. It really blurs the pours. And you can reapply during the day on top of makeup!

The Raquel are pretty wigs! I pour in the bathroom sink of cold water about half a cup and leave overnight, if in a hurry, I take out after an hour. I then gently roll it in a towel and then hang dry on a wig form/stand.

I am just trying to be helpful to you and all the ladies watching. I cannot impress on you and everyone here, enough to not use fabric softener on your wigs. This will make them gunky and the fibers stick together after a few times. It is not recommended, and I did it when I first started wearing wigs seven years ago and ruined two of them, and they were Raquel Welch. You should always use a wig shampoo and a wig conditioner, and never brush wet fibers as they will stretch out and get damaged very easily. Never comb out the Wig when it’s wet, wait until it is completely dried to use a comb on it. Once I started using professional products, my wigs have lasted for ever and I mainly wear Raquel Welch and Belle Tress heat defiant fibers.

Thank you for sharing, I started out with softener as you see in previous videos. I use more professional products now because I can afford them now. I have not experienced any problems with softener, but I understand it could happen. I do know not to use on hand Tied caps. It could loosen the knots. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

How much fabric sofener do you use to rinse wig in? Not to use wig shampoo??

On my synthetics, I don't use shampoos. Be gentle and don't rub the fibers. Just lay it in the cold water and gentle move it around. I use about cupful, or just eye it and pour in. You can't make a mistake. Rinse, gently. I dip it in and out of clean water. Then lay in a towel and roll and squeeze gently. Then I hang it to dry. I like to put a wash cloth on my wig stand and put the wig on it.

Not really, but I do choose scent free. Also if it's a hand-tied cap. Only immerse, don't soak. And rinse really well. The softener can loosen the knots on a hand-tied.

I bought my first wig this week. I’ve worn it twice and have received lots of compliments on it. Only thing, my head itches like crazy underneath the wig grip band. Any suggestions or tips on the itching?

Monica, it could be a number of things, I find it is usually if my hair isn't really smoothed down. The wig grip placed well and maybe try getting one that has the built in cap to keep wig fibers poking through to your scalp.

I usually just use a wide tooth comb. That's important on Synthetics. I use Baptist Dry Shampoo in the regular and brunette. And the headband I found on Amazon.

Hi, how does one deal with a sweaty head and wearing wigs?

It applies to each person differently. I am past having hotflashes. I live in cooler weather. But I have worn my wigs in Texas when it's a high temp. It's like a hat, it keep the head protected from the sun. Human hair wigs are cooler than synthetic. Wigs with open wefts are much cooler as well. A lot of us have very little bio or bone, so again, they aren't as hot. Longer wigs in summer are hot around the neck, just like human hair. If it's long, we put in a pony! Or clip!

I use a sensitive fragrance free of brand. I only use it on my synthetic wigs and not hand-tied. Human and synthetic hand-tied wigs have knots, which can loosen with too much conditioner, silicon, or fabric softener on the cap or roots. Avoid the cap. Some say never use softener. It hasn't ever damaged a wig of mine. Rinse well with cool water. I have wig shampoo and conditioner I buy from wigs.com. all in all, be gentle with your wigs.
