I'm also glad Nintendo stopped Mario from pulling a Call of Duty. As you know, in the early 2010s Nintendo made a Mario game every year with little difference (besides 3d world and land) people were becoming bored of it, Nintendo saw that and started taking their time with Mario again.

Random thing in my life: I just gotten Mario Party 9. I was really excited to play it with my two sisters and father. As soon as I tried to take the disc out of the box, the disc broke. It hadnt even gone into the Wii. You shouldve seen the look on my face. Keep in mind the game costs $59.99.

Oh, how unfortunate. This probably isn't related to your situation, but your story reminds me of the time me and my brother went to Best Buy to get Bayonetta 2 and we unwrapped the plastic wrap on the case and opened it and inside was a clear white disc. It was so shocking, the case was wrapped up yet the disc didn't have the game in it all! We had to go back to get the real game CD. Really wish I had recorded that moment.

I personally would’ve loved if Superstar Saga DX or Dream Team was there, because the original Superstar Saga was my childhood, and the remake is exactly like the original but better in my opinion, and Dream Team is just such an amazing RPG. I won’t deny that Bowser’s Inside Story is also amazing, but I didn’t grow up with that one like I did Superstar Saga and I found myself slightly more interested in Dream Team

Some of my favourites: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story Luigi's Mansion 1 and 3 Mario Party 2, DS and 8 Super Mario Galaxy 2 Mario Kart DS, Wii, 7 and 8 Deluxe Super Mario Maker 1 and 2 Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games Mario & Rabbids: Kingdom Battle Super Mario World And if you want to get technical, I suppose you could add Skylanders: SuperChargers to that list, because of how it gave us the ability to play as Bowser in a 3D platforming game BEFORE Odyssey did it.

The only good thing about the game, is the soundtrack, but like Phantom said, you don't have much interactions outside of the Toads, and the story is really bland, but the soundtrack is really something else, the combat system by using stickers could have been a good idea, but without those, you cannot to anything, and the puzzles aren't interesting, Super Paper Mario was hated by a lot of people, but the story was awesome, there is more interactions with other characters than Toads, and the plot twist is really good too.

@@themc3140 Everyone always follows the assumption that "Miyamoto hates story" but that's not true at all. There's always story littered everywhere in the mainline platformer games too, but it's just really simple, but if he didn't care about putting in story then there would be no need for what story there was in games like Sunshine, Galaxy or Odyssey and even in Super Mario World. He just feels gameplay comes first and that story should be allowed but not the main aspect. He tried doing that with Paper Mario, feeling the games should be like the mainline games, taking place in the Mushroom Kingdom instead of in different settings, but doing so took away of what made the Paper Mario games special to it's fans.

I thought Color Splash was really good though, and that the battle system was nice, the only thing I hated was if Kamek stole your cards or if you didn't have enough paint to fill your cards. I agree the gameplay of Super Paper Mario wasn't my favorite and I wasn't a fan of the pixel aspect but the story was definitely one of its best selling points.

If you mean underrated as in "most haven't played" I think the fact it being on the WiiU was why most people havent played it. 3D Land was on 3DS and more people have a 3DS than they have a WiiU. I heard some people might not like the gameplau of 3D World but I find that hard to believe.

I love the Paper Mario series! The first and second games are so iconic and memorable. As for the third, well... I don't talk about Super Paper Mario lmfao. It was kind of trash. SO forgettable - for a Mario game, I expected MUCH more. Literally all I remember is that it was weird. XD And obviously, Sticker Star is a disgrace as well. Color Splash was just another Sticker Star unfortunately. I'm hoping the new game, Origami King, and capture the magic of the first two while avoiding the weird, forgettable story of the third and the tedious gameplay of the fourth and fifth.

In my opinion Super Mario Odyssey is better that Breath of the Wild. There’s so much charm in the game and I was smiling from start to finish. Mario Galaxy 2 is even better though.

I love Mario but I lean more towards Breath of the Wild but Odyssey comes close. Both games are charming and are throwbacks to classic games such as Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time.

Great list man, I've seen that you have selected some of those Mario games so here's my top 5 favorite Super Mario games that I would like playing a lot. 5. MarioKart 64 (N64) & MarioKart 8 (Nintendo Switch) TIED - Depends how I've played racing games so the original holds up the most while the new one was a fantastic tradition to race. 4. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - Enjoying playing Mario in the sky and beyond the space. 3. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES/Remaster SNES) - Love to play that game HELL so Mario can be a racoon saver. 2. Super Mario World (SNES) - Love playing that game and always enjoy playing along with Yoshi and just playing as a superhero Mario. and.... 1. Super Mario Odyssey (Nintendo Switch) - Best Odyssey game ever, a great love letter of playing Mario games for the last 35 years. At least Nintendo gamers could've played "Hotel Mario" and "Mario is Missing" because they are pretty bad games.

I remember the first time I got to the end of Odyssey, walked up to unconscious Bowser, and said, “NO 👏🏻 FREAKING👏🏻 WAY👏🏻 NINTENDO WE SERIOUSLY GET TO DO THIS!!??” The only other Mario moment to give me that level of chills was the end of Galaxy when the luma buddy said goodbye but that was a different kind of intense moment.

The Galaxy games are my favorites. You just can't beat the legendary soundtracks (Gusty Garden, Purple Comet, and Melty Molten are my favorite pieces). And the final Bowser battles are epic

The 3DS being dependent on Streetpass for multiplayer features was a a problem with tons of games. I don't think Nintendo ever really understood that the rest of the world isn't as densely populated as Japan...

I feel I sticker star were to be remade, it would need these few changes: 1. More variety in the characters, this is an obvious one, toads are about all we get for background characters, also they should bring back partners 2. And this ones a big one, Bring back the experience points, this will give battles a meaning, and not just a roadblock, and the closest things to level-ups in the game are the +5 hearts. 3. Make the game a little easier to navigate, when I used to have this game, I wasn’t able to get far before I lost my game cartridge, but that was fine for younger me, but not knowing where to go can become frustrating to some. 4. Maybe nerf the power of the thing stickers, they make the bosses way to easy, so if they get nerfed, then the bosses would actually have some sort of challenge. Edit: After replaying the game, I actually believe the game is fine as it is. Sure, it may not be as critically acclaimed as TTYD or 64, but this game can stand on its own as a proper paper Mario game, and I’m glad it had done something new with the paper Mario series, some may not have liked it, but it will always be part of my childhood

Mario Sports Mix is one of those party games that doesn’t get enough love in my enough. It was so much fun with friends. Everything else? I pretty much agree. Galaxy and Odyssey definitely rank as some of my favorite games of all time
