I have just started a little chicken farm with 130 Hens and 20 Rosters this summer......planing to have 10 sheeps soon. Its just a start and its on a half of an acre only. But I wish for some more land and the goal would be fine if I get to half of what you have got😊
@SireBilly4 ай бұрын
I also have those ideals of starting a farm but am not financially ok now to start layers farming due to cost of feeds do you think local chickens will be good?
@hamzaelmarrouni51774 ай бұрын
@@SireBilly I dont have enough money to go big either. My mother and my brother once bought a piece of land (1/2 an acre) wich they dont use and have not used for years. But they wanted to have a nice green place for the summer time. I told them that if I could use it for something I would make it nice. I also have a partner who will take care of most things and who does not have enough money either but have a lot of connections. So I will start with some chickens and a couple of sheeps and I will grow some fruit trees ( peach, apples, olives, grapes, oranges, lemons and ect.) to make the place look nice. All of this is just while Im waiting to save some money enough to rent a bigger land and go big. Maybe If you could start with a couple of chickens only just to try it out and see if it is something for you. Build a chicken coop yourself and feed them with whatever leftovers you would have from your home and buy a little bit of chicken feed only. There are some ideas on KZbin you could watch how to feed your chickens and never buy something for them(Flies/insects). I think if you start small it will give you a taste and push you to work more towards your dream. If you can borrow some land, grow something on it and pay back with some fruits, vegetables and eggs maybe someone would accept it. I wish you the best.

Well done Dr Daniel, my question to you is this….do you experience glut in your country like we do in Nigeria? Glut is the period, where there is saturation of eggs in the markets and farmers have unsold eggs in there farms due to so many factors. If this happens in Uganda too, how do you deal with such situation? Thank you.
