I had a vfr1200f and it was the best bike I ever had. Bought it new and rode it 1500 miles the first weekend. I traded it in for a Ducati multistrada enduro 1200 . After a year of ownership it needed an engine rebuild . That took 3 months. Got it back lasted 2 weeks then back to the shop Again for 1 1/2 months Last a few days back to the shop for 1 1/2 months got it back tried to cross the USA in 48 hours , broke down after 500 miles . Took 6 days to get it across the USA. Selling my honda for a Ducati was the worst decision ever .

Great review. Love that black. I had a 2017 CT DCT for 5 months and logged over 15,000 miles on it. I traded it in for my 2018 Goldwing DCT, non tour but that was the plan from the start. I didn’t get a chance to really ride this bike, and learn it because I knew I would be trading it in, but the riding I did on it was very impressive. I bought a 2010 VFR 1200F DCT to see what 170 bhp felt like and after Sabsteef flash, this bike became an ICBM, and lots of fun to ride. Unfortunately at 65 yrs old, my body can’t keep up with my ego, so I need to get something a little more comfortable, like the CT. Love my Goldwing and it’ll be my forever bike, but I want a dual sport that can be an all around bike. These are very well kept secret bikes and am fortunate that I came across one without knowing anything about it. Ride safe and here’s to another 5 years of safe riding! 🙏🏻🏍🙏🏻

I've got a theory on this. It's like the Honda deauville. These bikes lasted too long and they were too reliable. So then they introduced the NC range in the hope they would upgrade more regularly. Honda weren't making enough money. It's just a theory!

Thinking about upgrading my VFR1200F to a Crosstourer. Had a Triumph Tiger 1200 before the VFR and loved it so I'm used to a top heavy Adv bike that probably won't see much off road but is great on road. Had the VFR1200F 3 years and normally I'd be changing bikes by about now, but I actually still like it, just a few issues that I think the Crosstourer could sort enough for me to keep for more years to come without needing to swap. Fuel range is currently around 120 miles which is pretty shit for a tourer, the Crosstourer should be closer to 190/200. Suspension comfort over bumpy roads. Longer travel suspension should mean I can either make quicker or more comfortable progress over bumpy roads, especially 2 up which I am A LOT. To keep the rear suspension from bouncing and wallowing over bumpy roads I've had to max out the preload and rebound which means the ride is pretty firm but manageable, any softer and it just bounces over bumpy roads and I have to slow down. Then after that it's mainly small details, riding position is more relaxed, rear tyre isnt an expensive 190/55, have TC (my 2011 doesn't have anything), turning circle massively improved, can fit meetier tyres so have the potential to do bigger tours, can fit crash bars no problem without drilling holes in a beautiful fairing. Loads of little things. Gonna have to test ride I think

The VFR is a good bike. I travelled to Norway last summer. The only issue I have had with my 1200 F is the seating position and the missing cruise control. The Crosstourer for me is too topheavy.

How does it ride at very low throttle or off throttle? A couple of Africa Twins and an NT1100 I've tried were pretty bad filtering through traffic at 2750 revs. Felt like kangaroo petrol. Probably emissions making the fuel mapping far too lean. Apart from this, I lived the DCT. You've done a lot of miles - -h ow do you honestly find is this on the Crosstourer? Many thanks & keep up the good work... 👍
@0to100Adventure

I never had any issues at low throttle or even off throttle and could maneuver the bike in controlled manner for almost stand still scenarios. Just got to be careful you don't open the gas by mistake :-) It it has happened to me couple of times but then you are quick on the brake. I guess the same can be said with the clutch if you let go to quickly by mistake :-)

There's a manual 2012 Crosstourer near me that I'm tempted to pick up; it's been kitted out and upgraded with almost everything except cruise control. Thanks glad you enjoyed. The bike is heavy when pushing around the garage, when rolling it is good, well balanced and a blast around corners, you can’t compare to a sports bike.
