I agree with your evaluation of this knife, I'm left handed so I really like the sheaf, afew swipes with a ceramic rod keeps it razor sharp.

I probably have 5-6 condors like the Moon Shiner, the Dundee Bowie, several more, but none of there smaller blades. But after watching this I’m thinking about it now . Great video, and Joe Flowers is a really cool designer and adventurer.

I have a few Condor blades. On amazon, you can get some of them as a blade only, which I do so I can make my own handle scales and leather sheaths. Good blades at a reasonable price point, customized to my own liking. What's not to love ?! Thanks for the review, I will pick one up and "de-handle" it, and make it my own. ps, I love my Condor Kephart replica. I used walnut for the handle scales, I think old Horace would approve.

Condor is a good company some little quality issues like uneven grinds uneven handle scale but with a little tlc they are great knives i love my bushlore

I have quite a few Condor knives(and many more expensive knives from other brands), and can concur that their QC regarding grinds leaves something to be desired, nonetheless I rate them very highly as a knife manufacturer due to their designs and affordability.

Big fan of my Condor Aqualore. I like a little bit longer blade for batoning, but it does everything it's intended for just wonderfully. And I really like the 14c28n stainless. It sharpens easily and holds a great edge.

Love the scandi, out of 4 customs and a bagfull of moras, i only had one chip. Made it into a scandivex and problem solved. Great vid!

I have two of the Terrasaur, really a good bushcraft knife, also have a Condour machete and a Hudson Bay, that’s a good chopper

I have an older Bushlore. It's awesome. After that, I tried the Hudson Bay knife, which I had to return because of QC issues. I stopped buying Condors. But I recently purchased the Trivittata because I fell hard for that knife! Annnnd it too had really bad QC issues with blade AND sheath. 😢 They couldnt replace it (apparently) and so they offered me replacement options (after months of waiting, I asked for anything...) None of the choices were knives I really wanted, but, I took one and that was it. The last Condor I buy. However, I agree totally on this comparison. I had a Garberg and it never worked for me, personally. I didn't like the blade shape, I found the edge terrible to use. I scandivexxed it, but by then I hated that knife and gave it away. I do miss the nice leather sheath it came in... The reason i can agree is that, in my opinion, most knives ive met are better than the Garberg... Just my opinion, of course. YYMV. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Another great "budget" blade to go with this is the tan Kershaw Camp 10, they are almost the same color tan so if the condor is mounted to the Camp 10 it looks like they were made for each other lol.

Looks great!! Excellent review too. I’ll trust Joe’s designing, experience, considerations etc. very simple looking design with lots of thought. More of an actual rather than piece of art. This might be the Scandi I’ve been looking, great price here in the UK too for a beginner. Thanks very much for bringing it to my attention 👍🏻

I think Joe got the blade profile right. It has less belly than the Garberg, so it is actually closer to a puukko profile and has a very long section with a pretty constant curvature, making it closer to a nessmuk style.

Value-wise you can't beat a basic Mora Companion, but compared to the more premium Garberg this offering from Condor comes in a clear winner due to it's price point in my opinion.

Mora is better than Condor especially the steel but Condor is not a bad knife and they offer wood handles which Mora does not. If you like wood on your knife, Condor is the best choice for not a lot of $.

The blade thickness is 3mm or 0.118 inches, just 0.2mm thinner than the Garberg and other heavy Mora bushcraft-ish knives.

There are two downsides to Condor knives, from my experience. First, the quality control of Condor is hit and miss. I have had several of their knives, and 2 out of 5 had to be "Fixed" out of the box. The first was a Bushlore and had a chipped tip out of the box. The second was the Terasaur that I bought 2 Christmas' ago, and the grind wasn't centered. I did a little work with my stone to even out the grind. Again, I have a 60% success rate with them, so you can take that for what it is. You kind of get what you pay for when it comes to Condor. Your mileage may vary.

I would take the Condor over a Mora any day. The extra toughness is the reason why.

@cocovasquez1 Unless Mora is using a different stainless on the Garberg, it is not tough enough. The edge rolls when carving on dry hardwood. It is more of an edge stability issue rather than toughness. There is a difference between the two

I would say Condor has some QC issues, but I fully believe they know what they are doing with their heat treat process.
