Omg if you watch the slow motion you can literally see the whole gun barrel and scope warp a bit idk if that's the sound waves just screwing with the image being received by the camera or not but he did say they were shooting off center. So maybe it was already doing damage to the rifle before he eventually got to the one that blew it apart. Think of it like this, the first few SLAP rounds warped the rifle internals and started to weaken it.. then that second round before the LAST actually visibly showed much more muzzle flash than the previous ones... And then finally the last round exploded the already compromised rifle. I wonder... Anyone else more knowledgeable could chime in would be appreciated My thinking is maybe it's possible that it wasn't a single hot round that caused the failure but actually a series of more or less equal rounds just being too much for the entirety of the rifle it self Ps also hope for a continued speedy recovery. Amazing story of the incident. So glad your Dad was there to be such a good help with what went down. As well as God 🙏 looking after you both

@SgtMars3 жыл бұрын
@@Nasonix2 no, that's not really possible. The tolerance of the gun internal is so minute that the round or cartridge would jam if the barrel or anything else "warped" it COULD be that it cause microscopic stress fractures and with the "hot" round that he loaded that last time it exploded it couldn't take the massive over pressurization. Very nice demo of the ballistics of bullets. One thing about the 360 lb ball. Eventhough heavy, it is made of non reinforced concrete. If it were made of monolithic polished granite stone the results would have been different. It will not split like this concrete stone.

@@ElessarEstel Its sad. Because its a neat gun that was not intended to shoot the slap rounds. Scott even mentions that he had to wait for the gun maker to manufacture a one off barrel to accommodate the round. But all said and done... Would I buy one. Probably not. Just saying its like putting 100 psi in a tire designed to hold 40... It will work for a bit, but will probably fail at some point.
@australiananarchist4803 жыл бұрын
@@scottcol23 that's not what happened though. A more apt analogy would be putting 40 psi in a tire made for 40 psi, but unbeknownst to you, the gas you out in your tire was petrol, and then it explodes in the middle of driving down the highway. The SLAP round he used was the problem, not the gun. The powder had likely degraded in a way that made it much much hotter than expected. It would have exploded in any gun, not just the Serbu
