I always loved the 1986 topps football set. Rice, Reggie White, Steve Young, and packed full of great rookies and HOFers. Very very tough grading. Somehow I ended up with a vending box. The edges and corners are flawless. To open that box brings me back to being a kid again. I don't have the heart to break the box apart lol

One of my favorite videos you have done in awhile! I mean they are all great but this one hit home for me. We are so alike in our collecting, grading, and collecting story and our length in the hobby. I agree with you about PSA and have had their back with MY returns. I think they are almost right on with every grade and they are doing a great job. They are the leader and I don't see that changing for awhile. SGC does some things good for sure and I do like aspects of their company. With PSA getting their returns back to their customers faster this will really put the pressure on SGC as long as PSA does a good job. I will try SGC soon I think because I have always wanted to try them. I couldn't agree with you more about really checking your cards out better before you sub them and after you get them back. I have been nicely making comments on videos about flaws that you can see on a card that they are overlooking or just missed causing the grade that they got. Keep up the videos my friend and hope to post a new one for myself tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the comment. I loved it. Yeah, I've actually always been impressed with PSA's customer service, they have always had my back too. I was really getting into SGC, but I still haven't received my last order (missing) and I've been less than impressed with how they're currently handling it, ugh. Oh, what was your first big card you got (loved) as a kid? And I'll definitely check out your latest video if you post one tomorrow :) Thanks again for the comment!

I whole heartedly agree. They need to be tough but fair. I just got my order in, video coming soon, and the ones I had at "9 maybe 10" all were 9s. I did have some 6s that confused me. But overall, they were absolutely fair. One thing I don't like is people pointing out the flaw and saying, "but I deserved a 10. Come on PSA!" I absolutely hate that. They pointed out why they got a 8 or a 9 and expected a 10. Having 10s be rare is the whole point of grading. Good sub and vid!

Exactly! You’re spot on with your comment 👌 I really like the direction PSA continues to go in. Over the years I’ve learned to take accountability for the grades I get 👍 Sure PSA makes poor grades sometimes, but it’s still a small percentage. Let me know if you see why you got the 6’s. I always like learning too

@@littlevictoriessportscards197 2 of them deserved a 6. One was completely a miss on my part. The other was a 2020 Optic basketball where the outline of the player wasn't stamped perfectly. Rest of the card was solid so it was a test for me. One I believe is a 9 and the other has me baffled. But of 85 cards I have 2 I question, that's not bad at all!

yup, I have been saying it for a few years now -- 60-40 centering no longer works, and the back centering also can't be way off like it used to be...I am happy with both of those changes...they won't update their grading standards to say as much as it would cause "issues" out in the grading world, but people submitting cards should know that the new centering criteria is real

@@littlevictoriessportscards197 I wonder if the centering depends on the product. I feel like on cards with narrow borders 60-40 is a lot tougher than on wide border cards. Like look at 1981 topps. the borders are so narrow, its almost impossible to get a perfectly centered card. a hair off and its noticeable.

I first started collecting in 1992. My first big card was a 1982 Topps Cal Ripen jr. my brother bought me that cost 40 dollars at the time. I collected until about 1996 before stopping when I started High School. I got back into the hobby about 2010. I started buying all the cards I wanted while growing up. That is when I saw graded cards for the first time, I started buying them a few years later because the prices had not blown up yet. Last year I started sending in my own cards to be graded and I think I have done decent in my selection of what I send in. I am at the end of my submitting on my Ohtani rookies, I bought over 100 of them in 2020. People had given up on him and they were cheap. I done very well on them with grades but all my Peyton Manning and other 90s and 80 not that great. I always send in stuff I think is at least 9 but most of the time that stuff comes back a 8 or 7. I occasionally get the head scratchers that grade a 6 or 7 and they look mint even in good light. My latest order I sent in a 1993 Jeter Topps gold I pulled in 1993 and a Iverson 1996 fleer ultra I also pulled when it first released. Most of the Ohtani cards come back 9s and 10s.

Just got back an 80 card order this week and my grader decided he didn’t care about surface issues. Multiple 10s on cards I had held out thinking they were 9s or even an 8 in one case the scratching was so bad, which happened to be a nice Harper refractor rc. I dig the commentary and remarks about PSA and the recent grading. 95% of the time I can see why I got a 9 or 8 or below. The other 5% I crack out and send back. For the most part I'm agreeing with the grades and like you said - firm but fair. Now, do some cards come back to me with damage done by PSA hands? Maybe, but it's really hard to tell/prove. Considering the volume they're doing (especially right now) I'm impressed with the turn time and grading consistency. And I think it's good thing that they're not flooding the market with PSA 10's for every 60/40 card with imperfect corners/edges.

Agreed. It’s around 5% of the time where I feel PSA actually got it wrong, and that’s when I crack out 👌 And overall, I’d say it’s still less than 1% of the time PSA actually damages a card. OC means, old collection. This is saying that I got the card in an old collection I bought probably 8-15 years ago 👍 Thanks!
