HOUSTON, TX - 50 Cent has been given his own day and the key to the city of Houston as H-Town continues to embrace the Queens, New York native as one of its own.
The G-Unit boss was presented with the prestigious honors by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner at the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in the Texas metropolis on Thursday (November 24).

@@asparagusonly It's a waste of an honor to be given to 50 Cent. I am not saying that 50 isn't a good artist. I am not saying that 50 is a bad person. I am not saying that 50 does not deserve to get rewards but if he does so, it should be with music. The key to the city should be an honor given to someone who has an exemplary behavior and attitude. This is what the youth should aspire to. We all know the violent lifestyle is what made 50 sell. We all know that yes, he's a good artist but if he sold as much it's because of the controversy and the "real gangsta" label that comes with it. Surely he made smart business moves but there are a lot of citizens who make smart business moves who are never given no key to no city. What is it that we are really celebrating here ? How long are we going to keep acting like it's righteous to have that "bad boy" behavior as long as it gets you wealth and "respect" and all of this is not misleading to our youth ? Do you realize that no other black people in a country that is not enduring civil war kill as much black people with guns in the world as they do in America ?
