Drake is the Taylor Swift of hip hop. Grown but stuck in his adolescent mentality, both maturity and artistic wise. The problem that I think is catching up with Drake is that his audience is growing but he's not growing with them. Like, Rihanna couldn't come out today and release the same type of music with the same kind of subject matter she used to. Taylor Swift will eventually fall victim to the same problem if she keeps going the same route - overexposure. So 50's advice is actually sound. He needs to go away, stop with recent antics and then come back with something new. Create the demand and then supply it.

Also, your first album is not always considered your best first impression. Many artists have went on to have better received albums after their initial debut. Companies can now invest in artists and their unique talents, instead of watching a majority of them be used as a creative farm for Drake’s projects. Is he one of the best selling artists to date? Yes. But is he also getting there by taking everyone else’s style, which doesn’t allow them to shine? Yes. Drake as a rapper is pretty much done. The women fanbase has been moving on now that so many female rappers are flourishing. The youth has been moving on to the rager scene (Ken Carson, Playboi Carti, Travis, Destroy Lonely, etc). The battle with Kendrick was a HUGE BLOW no matter how they try to downplay it. Drake will always be successful due to his back catalog, but I don’t think he can dominate the field anymore unless he just takes everyone’s styles for himself and these artists let him.
