We did this on muscle cars back in the day on glass packs, we would weld a nut near the exhaust end of the pipe then screw a spark plugs into the nut so that it stuck out into the inside of the pipe then wire it to a switch, so when it was on it would spark continuesly and ignite the unburnt gas in the exhaust gas
