Fun fact: the Terminator 2 death scene when you fall into lava in the DOOM remake is still a thing in DOOM Eternal, it's just harder to see because instead of one shotting it slowly drains your shields and plus it takes ages to eat through your extra lives

You could probably make a whole video with just the little details in all the Metal Gear Solid games. One of my favorite ones is in 3 when you fall into the dark cave. It's nearly pitch black but after a few minutes Snake's eyes adjust and you're able to see somewhat.

8:27 there's a similar mechanic in Skyrim. If you find tree stumps, usually around mills, there's a particular stump that's sort of larger than the others and has a lighter colored top, like it was a large tree that has recently been cut down. While the detail is a bit simpler (they're literally just sliding across the surface, no movement animation whatsoever), you can actually see ants traveling across the surface, top and sides. Which is kind of neat and that adds to the whole inhabited world you're playing in. There's other insects, sure, but you can easily see them. Ants, on the other hand, nobody really goes looking for them because they prove no use to us in our adventures. They're just a tiny detail that gets overlooked by 95% of players

In Bendy and the Ink Machine, there was a trailer for Chapter 3 which involves Henry hiding in a Miracle Box and Bendy jumping at it. This area wasn't included in the chapter release, but after a big update where they changed up some designs to get it prepared for console release, they included that dead end hallway with a destroyed Miracle Box at the end that has ink writing that says something like "Looking familiar?"

RDR2 is so detailed. A few of my faves are pronghorn outrun you (fastest land mammal over long distances), the low number of Carolina Parakeet (went extinct in real life not long after the date in game), and when opossums play dead you can't study them since you can't study dead animals.

prehaps a video about games that punish you for being slow? idk. i was just thinking about how in Moonlighter if you stay on a floor of a dungeon for too long you will see a green eye in the corner of the screen looking around beside a little clock. if you stay on that same floor for even longer a green monster guy will appear and start to follow you around, the monster guy is impossible to kill, and will instanly kill you if touched.
