Whoever does these does a wonderful job of it. My late Dad was a classical music enthusiast. He had records and I thought an incredible ear for music. He could always pick just the right piece for the time. Many evenings were spent laying in front of the console Magnavox stereo with him reading, smoking his pipe and me listening. It was always a safe restful place to be, warm in the cold and cool in the heat of summer. That was ages ago. He would have been 94 today.

I am living with quite a lot of pain which keeps me awake at night. However, if I snuggle down in my lazy-boy chair with a warm, soft blanket and my cat on my lap, with your music playing, I sleep. The music is so healing, for mind and body. But why do you stop the music and ask 'Are you still there?' The music stopping wakes me up.

Thanks for this and allowing me to identify those elusive melodies I've often heard on the airwaves. I had not heard the Barber Adagio before, but for some reason it elicited an emotional response that startled me. Many of these works have more beautiful melodies , but the slow build to climax of one passage and it's pause then ultimate resolution in the Barber was breathtaking.
