I can't believe you didn't have "bihfarmayid"!!! Also was expecting "khosh amadid." But thank you for your videos. I am trying to brush up on my Persian, which I learned in college, plus some before on my own. A few of these expressions I've never heard before though, and I studied Farsi for three years, and have spoken with many Iranians. I think some of them must be local to where you're from. Most the people I know are from Tehran or Shiraz. Beherhal, merci, mamnoonam. :-)

As you noted, there are two ways to pronounce words, formal & informal. In your example "where are you going". formal speech would be "Ko-jah mi-ra-vid?" where the informal one is the way you had presented "mee-ree? It would be nice to include both versions which would provide better perspective how rich Farsi language is.
@RezaNazarie7 жыл бұрын
Formal way is "kojaa miravi" and informal "kojaa miri". In this series of videos I just did that! I provided a conversation in written "formal" and spoken "informal": kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJvVfJWZoLJlg6c

@RezaNazarie7 жыл бұрын
it means: you are welcome!
@maleeesh7 жыл бұрын
First thanks for providing us with a free video. Can you also please provide an explanation of why it means what it means ? What is mean is something like this من بايد برم Man, means, I, here it is used for emphasis since, Baram, the verb is conjugated to Man already. Bayad, is the third person of Baydan in the past, OO bayad. It means should. Now, if I am correct in my analysis I do no understand why is it 3rd person ? Does it mean something like "It is a must that I advanced".
@hootanmanoochehri64087 жыл бұрын
Samuel Awny Great, your analysis is almost correct. but, about 'باید' I should say, it won't be conjugated, and it's not the third person. As you know, the meaning is: have to, must or should. Depends on the sentence. Maybe more examples gives you an intuition: Man bayad beram = من باید بروم I should go To bayad beri = تو باید بروی You should go Oo bayad beravad = او باید برود (S)he should go Ma bayad berim = ما باید برویم We should go Shoma bayad beravid = شما باید بروید You all should go Anha bayad beravand = آنها باید بروند They should go As you see 'bayad' doesn't change at all. It's part of the grammer, the verb is 'raftan' as listed above you see the conjugation, you add 'bayad' to the verb to say there is an obligation to do so.
