In this video, I will take you on an Indonesian street food tour of Jakarta to savour the best seafood Indonesia has to offer.
To start our Indonesian street food tour of Jakarta, Indonesia, we went to Chef's kitchen where they have a huge aquarium full of local live seafood from any kind of fish, prawns, oysters, and crabs to the best lobster in the country.
For lunch, we had a life-changing feast with Chili crab, butter garlic prawns, fresh oysters, steamed grouper, and scallops served with glass noodles and garlic.
This was a meal we will never forget!
To end our Indonesian street food tour of Jakarta, Indonesia, we went to a local restaurant to try some of the most traditional Indonesian seafood dishes like fried calamari, blood cockles, grilled fish, and the most unique seafood dish I've had, Kepiting Asap, smoked crab.
We had some of the best seafood of our life. Indonesia really is seafood heaven.

I'm sure someone will recommend Gudeg, but i warn you it's veryyyy sweeet I can't stand it 😵‍💫 Mainstream Yogyakartan culinary 1. Ronde : hot ginger drink with toppings 2. Kopi Joss : Red hot charcoal in black coffee (try at your own risk 🥵) 3. Bakpia : mungbean-filled pastry (Yogyakarta specialty) 4. Sate klatak : goat/lamb satay in iron skewer (usually from bicycle rim) the meat cooked evenly inside and outside 5. Gudeg : jackfruit stew, simmered hours in palm sugar. Served alongside hard boiled egg, krecek (cow skin), tofu, and rice. Note : Yogyakartan foods are sweeter in general from the use of kecap manis and palm sugar

What an incredible seafood adventure!! The crabs from both places looked so good, but we have to say those fresh oysters got us, nothing like fresh simple oysters. The fish at the second restaurant was so meaty and looked so delicious. So glad you both got to enjoy such fresh local seafood. Keep up the great work guys!!!

Max, next time you want to try crab, prawn or sea shell i definitely recommend with saus padang. It's a bit spicy but heavenly delicious. Fyi, not all restaurants can make really good saus padang, so perhaps Sherly can give you suggestions

Try pasar ikan/fish market Muara Angke when you are back in Jakarta next time! Come after midnight when the fishermen just come back from the ocean. They will cook the fresh catch fish from the ocean on the spot for you..

The first seafood restaurant in the video is Chinese style seafood . The second one is Sulawesi (Ujung pandang) style with strong spices. Balinese (Jimbaran) seafood is also very good but a bit spicy. I love them all!
