Vader ALWAYS kneels when he's badly injured. In his fight w/Luke at the end of VI, he kneels then grabs the railing to keep himself upright before tossing the emperor into the abyss. Battlefront is referencing that film, but he also kneels again after Kenobi kicks his ass on that deserted moon in the Kenobi series episode 6. The films influenced the games, not the other way around.
