Definitely wait until you know it's safe. I've known so many people that I thought were totally cool, but later found out they believe marriage should be between a man and a womal. Or they "support gay people", but think they should keep it on the DL. It hurts. But I'm slowly making better friends, and I hope you can find a place of acceptance either way.

As someone whom isn't closeted to my parents they never knew I was Pansexual and Polyamorous until my 30s. The only thing for me was I wish I found out sooner. I didn't tell them mainly because my mom was ultra religious and my dad was a product of his time. Thusly I assumed they were unsafe. It took a family friend coming out of the closet too for me to Do the same. Look up Professor Pride's videos on coming out.

My mom refers to transgender identities as "deceit", so I am not keen on coming out as nonbinary yet to her. She seems like the type to be tolerable or accepting as other people being transgender or nonbinary, etc, but not be accepting of he own children being so. :')

Idk how this might be at ur school, but u could ask to talk to the therapist, come out to them and ask them to help u come out to ur mom, there's a higher probability that she would accept u (in my country every high school has one and overall is VERY acceptive)

So sorry to hear that! Not trying to be soft on your mom or anything but on top of the trans and enbyphobia may be grief for the child that she's felt like she lost. It's a real possibility, and it's best not to assume that she's just hating on you...

I'll be honest, I'm a lot of things-lesbian, aromantic, and genderqueer (probably genderfluid), and my parents haven't actually been told, I try not to let them know. I'm still in the closet at home. At school it's a different story. I was planning on sending this to my mom to come out to her, but...I've not had much luck simply sending her stuff. My current plan is to send her a letter when I'm in college that says to wait a month before talking to me just to see if she read the whole thing. I'm definitely sending a letter to my brother, he is in college. I like that there's a channel like this, but my situation would actually get worse if I sent this video to my parents, so I hope you understand.

I see where you are coming from but if I'm being honest, I don't think I would paint my child's room pink or blue just because of their gender.. if I wanted to painted it pink or blue.. it's probably because I want the room to look nice and comfortable. I mean colors don't match with gender very much...I have a blue room but it doesn't mean I'm a boy. I just like the color blue. And I like greens and purples, and stuff like that. So if I were to have a child, whatever color I think looks nice for their room..i'd make it that color, not because of gender, it's because it looks nice! So I could paint my child's room yellow, green, purple, grey, but that doesn't mean they are nonbinary.. Bottom line is.. colors don't have gender, and I wouldn't paint my child's room a certain color because of gender. I'd do it because I want it to look good and comfortable for them!

1 tip on how to engage conversation with your child is play a kind of game. For example « tell me the best and the worst thing about your day » ( obviously don’t make into an interrogation, and make sure to tell them about your day as well, so that the conversation feels like an equal to equal exchange ) I like this because it’s a cool way to get people to open up about some things they would normally hide from others, but it also reminds us that when bad things happend, there’s always something good too that made it worth it to get out of bed.

Christian here - we strive (some aren't very good at it) to love and accept everyone. Some would reference the bible as an argument against homosexuality, but it was a mistranslation. The bible also states many other bad or plain stupid things, because it was written by man, and is therefore corrupt. Such as, women shall have no authority over a man, and thou shalt not wear a garment woven of multiple fabrics. Only the 10 commandments and quotes of Christ remain pure.

I was talking with my mom the other day and hinted at my sexuality without actually saying the words "I'm demisexual" and at first she said that what I was trying to explain was a bunch of crap, and that it's not abnormal and I'm just like everyone else (again, she doesn't know these things so I'm not taking it too personally) but it still stung. At the end of the conversation, she changed her tone a little bit and said that " I'm being too specific" so I guess that's a little better. Not planning on telling her anytime soon becuase she just won't get it and try to convince me it isn't real... this is why we test the waters...

Heh, I’m scared to admit to being a panromantic asexual since my mom thinks she knows everything about the lgbtq community because she has friends who are gay and asexual, and she thinks with all the different terms that the lgbtq community has, that it’s all too complicated. She thinks that they make it so complicated so they can’t get attacked. My dad thinks the lgbtq community is wrong (he claims to be a Christian) and his argument is that he tolerates them so he’s not homophobic… I’m really upset about this since I always thought mom was supportive of the lgbtq community, but is so closed off against it. I literally just said that I found it interesting to research about, and she said “you should probably be researching something else”. Tell me it’s wrong to research about other people around you, seriously. I hate that so many people are forced to stay closeted just because parents are scary now.

I have tried coming out to my mom twice, and both times didn't go well. The first time was when I was 9, and I told my mom that I was "100% straight and 100% gay like how Jesus is 100% man and 100% God" and she burst out laughing while assuring me that I was to only like girls. The second time happened when I was around 14 when one of my older brothers outed me as bi to her. She freaked the hell out, telling me that it was a phase, and used my cousin, who is a very flamboyant gay man, as an example of why I "could never like men" even though I am more attracted to men than women. I still haven't told my biological dad yet since he's really unpredictable. Still, considering he has bought Pride Shoes in the past and is an atheist (so he has no religious obligation to deny me, either), I am assuming he's okay with it.

my mom isn't homophobic but i haven't told her yet. i think we put too much pressure on ourselves to tell our parents. we can live happy lives without our parents even knowing because once we're adults and can afford to move out we can make them choose their stupid homophobic beliefs or their child that they love more than life itself. that's how i see it. im 24 and i still technically live with my family but i don't see myself telling my dad anytime soon.

@@nadiapaulson3217 you're welcome and for it's worth your dad will eventually come around. adjusting takes time. one of my former neighbors is gay. his mom is a super catholic and as are his grandparents and so on. he was in his 20's when he told me and a friend of mine to be you and not to let yourself be pushed down by society norms. a month later he got a phone call about his mom being diagnosed with cancer. over the last 6 months of her life he reconnected with his mom and she passed fully accepting her son for who he was. he came out to her as gay when he was 12 and they had a rocky relationship until she passed. I'm not saying it will take your dad getting cancer to finally love you for being you. it just takes time and effort on your part. your dad knows now and he knows one day you're going to bring home the person you want to marry. he will have to question if his homophobic beliefs are worth losing one of his children forever.

My dad does some of these. Only some. Only the last bits. Even the "athentic self" thing. it still doesn't really accept me. it still ruins my life to this day. it should be dead. Many lives would be better even if slightly. My life would be imMENSEly better.

I'm a bit confused at this comment I'm pretty sure your just being inclusive of non binary children, but there's not really anything wrong with saying "sons and daughters" and he also does say simply "child" sometimes, and he is not a supporter of the LGBT community he is gay himself, so if you meant something explain it to me

Life just happens,can't be planed. Some things in life are set as we born,others just happenes as a pile of circumstances. My parents had an image of my future,same as parents of my friends and cousins. Well life had different plans. I become handicapped as a 11 year old in the middle of war, one of my friends never came home on a first day of a war,shot by sniper as a 10 year old,my cousin tried 3 suicide attempts as a teen, 15 years later done a gender change operation, my best friend married a guy who was able to handle his severe PTSD and war traumas coz of brutal abuse as a child in occupaied areas. Parents too often idolise life and think their kids will have rainbows and unicorns thru life and they focus on crap things and how their life should be or look like. My family and friends went thru so many shit during war times that after it was over actually no one gave a crap and making drama about anyone being gay or what ever.they were just happy we all are alive. Nothing in life can't be planned, we can get sick,find in a war, struck by car etc.life happens it is not something you can plan for yourself, and have no right to plan it for someone else..

question what is intersex?
@rosieg6989
@rosieg6989 2 жыл бұрын
It is when a person is born more than one biological sex. It usually presents as physically, or through chromosomes, or both. Physically it usually presents as a person having a combination of female and male reproductive organs and hormones, such as a person having a vagina but internal testicals, or a person having a penis but also a uterus. Chromosomal intersex is where you don't have just xx or xy, you could have just x, or xxy, or xxx, and the rarest for is a person having xx but develop completely male, or xy but develop completely female.

@rosieg6989
@rosieg6989 2 жыл бұрын
@@lukecohen5696 Well there is one more thing you should now as it is very important these last few years. Many intersex people with the physical kind don't know they are intersex because when they are born about 90% of parents have doctors surgically remove one of the reproductive sets, either all of the male reproductive organs or all of the female, even though in most cases the two sets aren't life threatening. Babies between the ages of zero to two are being forced to have healthy parts of them removed so that they can be the sex their parents want. Intersex isn't technically part of the lgbt community, but we are standing with them because we know that no child should be forced to be something they aren't, and hopefully more legislation will be introduced to make these surgeries illegal unless medically necessary. When they are adults if they want one set removed then they can make that choice, but at less than two years old they cannot.

I had no issue up to 3:20 when you said a child coming out as Intersex! No, unlike all of the LGBT and all the others that are controlled by the brain and thoughts of emotions, intersex is not controlled by the brain, They are one of God's gifts that is neither female nor male on a physical level. I think Jesus blesses Intersex in Matthew 19.
