A wonderful way to celebrate. I work at the Illinois Railway Museum, and on July 1st we'll have our "70 for 70" anniversary special, operating 70 electric streetcars, mass-transit cars, and interurban cars.

@@BrickishRail Thank you kindly. Founded when ten men each contributed $100 to buy a high-speed interurban car in 1953, we now have the largest collection in North America. Even have our own 2-10-0, built by Baldwin in 1917, running this summer. Unfortunately, we don't run freight trains that often, I wish we would for demonstration.

Greetings from 30 degrees north/ 90degrees west. Fantastic video! Wish I had been there! If you will excuse me I thought it looked as if someone had made a foll scale replica of Mouldy Raspberry's excellent layout the "Yorkshire Dale's Railway". Thank you all.

Congratulations on 50 years. Don’t want to think about that too much as my firstGCR ride was in ‘year one’..........I must be getting old.

@@maxwellturnbull1903 Most definitely. Then 5231, Littleton no 5 Robert nelson no 4 . Obviously ‘breaking out’ single track to quorn the first big step in what has become and is becomming even more, now that reunification is only when, not if, the ambitions of those first pioneers: a true preserved main line.

@@18EStudios not at all. Excellent idea. A Castle is after all a larger boilered Star, and there's three operational Castles already, and we all know Lode Star will never steam again, so what better than a working Star to complete the line up. A very historically significant design after all

The 48305 is the british cousin of the italian FS Gr 740! They have the same wheels arrangement: 2-8-0
@jackx4311
@jackx4311 Жыл бұрын
@lowrangemaniac5326 - no, the Stanier 8F is no relation to the FS Gr 740 at all; aside from the wheel arrangement (shared by many other locos), it's a completely different design. It's a heavy freight version of Stanier's mixed traffic LMS Black Five, and much of the boiler design follows Great Western Railway practise.

I work as a volunteer at Loughborough and met one of the brake van owners a while back. They moved it from East Lancs because it wasn’t getting used after they restored it. It was great to see the smiles on their faces when its used at events like these.
